10.14.10

Waking up noises: I love the sounds the kid makes when he wakes up happy. Not so much when he wakes up sad. :)

Happy tears: I think that happy tears are much better than any other kind.

Kisses: today I caught the dog and the kid giving kisses. It made me laugh, weirded me out a bit, and then made me laugh again. So cute, but so disturbing.
10.13.10

Myomed: I'm advertising here. Best muscle cream ever. I can move!

Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies: for breakfast... need I say more?

Walking: it actually is amazing how walking around is helping me to get the movement back into my life. My poor back has been out of it, but now I'm feeling like a spring chicken. Okay, not quite, but close enough that I don't care.
10.12.10

Leda: she helped the kid during kindermusic today so that I could sit on her couch. Good good woman.

Sisters-in-law: I'm truly blessed to have an amazing extended family. My cute sis brought us dinner tonight. The funny part, she had NO idea that lasagna is in my top 5 favorite foods. Yay for her!

Husbands: today was a little rough, but as soon as he came in the door he became super man and took over, playing with a frustrated kid, trying to rub out my back so I could move, doing everything so that I would start to feel better. Love him.
10.11.10

Sitting a lot: I am sitting a lot... not moving as much as possible. Nap time was interesting today, as it didn't happen... but at the end of the day it is cool that I have a little boy that loves me enough to snuggle with me on the couch and pat me when he thinks I need to feel better.

Cereal: it's not just for breakfast anymore.

Chocolate: it makes you feel better when getting off the couch isn't an option.
10.10.10

Weddings: do you know that there are over 50,000 weddings planned for today? People want the date. I think it's hilarious and pretty cool as well. I mean, if your husband can't remember today's date, he's in a bit of trouble.

12 weeks: today I'm 12 weeks along. It is the end of worrying that things will go horribly wrong. I'm grateful for that.

Backs: I threw out my back... it wasn't pretty... isn't it amazing how many things are connected to each other in your body and you don't realize it until something goes horribly wrong? We'll see how this goes.
10.9.10

Susie: my parent's left for Peru today so I get to play with their dog Susie for two weeks. She's such a sweet, well behaved dog, and Bug LOVES her. Today he has laid down in bed with her and crawled into her kennel with her. I'm sure that is the beginning of a fun two weeks for both of them.

Food in a pumpkin: so tonight we were with our beloved friends and the dinner was this yummy concoction placed in a pumpkin and baked. It was pretty yummy!

Sleep: I think that it is pretty amazing how sleep can make you nice when nothing else can.

11.08.2010

10.8.10

Friday nights: I love to cuddle up to my husband after a long week. It makes the rough parts kinda go away. I love him, he is my rock, my best friend, and the man I can cry to. I'm sure thankful that he hasn't turned tail and run away yet.

Dreams: I had a great dream about a very cute little boy. I'm not sure if I this little peanut is a boy... but if it is, I'm hoping he will be as cute as the little boy in my dream.

The locking button on the fridge: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Every fridge that has a water dispenser, needs to have a lock button so that little boys who are in love with water don't spend their lives soaked to the bone, but happy as a clam dancing under the water stream.
10.7.10

Going to the Dr: I'm finding that this pregnancy I'm a lot more relaxed about a lot of things. I'm not as worried everyday that I'll loose the baby... so it makes going to the Dr a lot more of a happy thing. I got to see the baby today. It was a very good day.

Mom's: my mom took the kid so that I could go to the Dr in peace. I don't ask my mom to tend a lot because she's not a babysitting grandma (I'm totally cool with it) but coming into her house to the sound of laughter was a great thing.

The Book of Mormon: I started reading it everyday with the kid (after TV church) and now he will bring me the book and grunt so that I will read it to him some more. We say a prayer after reading and he will fold his arms and bow his head... while staring at me the whole time. Classic!
10.6.10

Cloth diapers: I've come to appreciate them for a whole new reason, you see, my kid loves to dump his water everywhere... he loves to pour it on himself the most. So those wonderful cloth diapers have come in handy yet again with how much they pick up and how much they hold... of water this time around.

Cameras: I have one that I should use a lot more often. I'm trying to re-commit to taking more pictures. Here's for at least thinking of it today. :)

Monkeys: my house is covered in monkeys. From the stuffed animals to having them on cloths... they are everywhere... good thing I like them so much.
10.5.10

Dancing: I've taken to dancing in the mornings with Bug. It makes both of us happy as I crank up the music and listen to his laughter.

Chapstick: I think that there are a lot of things in life invented just for me. My dry skin and lips... amen for chapstick.

Changing of the leaves: I love, love, love watching the colors of fall. They are my happy colors. They make my little heart sing.
10.4.10

Ugly dolls: as I sat and looked at Bug dragging around Ox (his ugly doll) I just giggled inside over how great the characters are. I really think I'm going to get another one for the new baby... now to decide which one the little peanut will get.

Climbing: as the house gets quiet, I can only imagine where the kid has gotten to now... the top of the table? The countertop? Inside a drawer? The top of the piano... the sky is the limit for this kid.

Yoga blocks: there not just for yoga anymore... apparently they are stepping stones to get to places the kid knows he shouldn't go.
10.3.10

Snacking: as I sit for the second day of TV church, I love to have a bowl full of snacks. What can I say... I love food.

Zofran: it is my friend. I love that it makes it so that I only throw up once a day instead of several times a day... (this pregnancy is kicking my trash! ...as I sit here and dream about the food I used to be able to eat.)

Microwaves: you never really think about all the little gadgets that have been invented over the years until you're reminded that you're just grateful they exist. Having lunch ready in 1 minute is genius!
10.2.10

TV church: twice a year my church holds a semi-annual conference. It's where members throughout the world go to meeting houses, stake centers, the internet, and if your lucky, your own family room to watch general conference. I am one of the lucky that gets to roll out of bed and watch from the comfort of my own home. I grew up going to our stake center in Michigan... so I've done both, but I far prefer being on my couch. I love these conferences! I love listening to the prophets give us encouragement, tell us of their love, and sometimes, lovingly kick us in the bum. I look forward to it every October and April as I know I will hear something that will bless my life.

Toys: they keep the kid occupied while I watch TV church.

Crock pots: they make the food while I watch TV church.
10.1.10

October: as a kid when the first day of October would come, I would get instantaneously happy. I knew that the holiday season was coming, and in my small little mind that meant my birthday! I still get happy in the beginning of October because I know the holidays are coming. In my life the holidays are filled with love, fighting, sibling tiffs, chaos, great memories, not so great memories... you name it, I've dealt with it during the holidays. (Haven't we all?!) And yet no matter what, no matter what I know could potentially come from them, I sure do love the holidays. I think it is because it reminds me that as a whole, people are innately good and that we should focus a little more on that, then focusing on the other things that come because we're human.

Being long winded... apparently I am. :)

Half hour naps: not the best thing in the world for little boys who need sleep.
9.30.10

Thursdays: I love Thursdays. I really don't know why. I think it's because the end of the week is in sight and I know I only have one more day to make it through before the weekend. I'm so grateful for that.

Lotion: it's the time of year that lotion plays a very important role in my life. You see I have the skin of a lizard, or an alligator... take your pick... and lotion is my happy relief from the yuck of scales.

Nose suckers: the kid has had this horrible nose runny thing going on... he got two molars so I guess that's reasonable for him to be snot nosed... but I sure do love those sucker things. He can breath for 10 minutes at a time until I have to suck it out again.
9.29.10

Shock: I was shocked today when I looked up my blogs and realized that this one hadn't been updated in a month! A MONTH! So now I am going to spend some time over the next few days updating all of October and into November... sorry I've been such a slacker! I've been sick with this pregnancy and can attest to the fact that when you feel sick, you don't want to do ANYTHING!

Cookbooks: I've found that even though the internet is the world at my fingertips, I still love a good cookbook. I love to actually flip the pages, imagine how long it would really take me to make whatever it is that has caught my eye, and then drool over the pictures... I don't buy the ones without pictures... learned my lesson on that one. :)

Reading to my kid: I love that every morning like clockwork the first toy my kid reaches for is a book, he will bring them to me and we will sit and read together. I hope he continues to love books.

10.06.2010

9.28.10

Listening to the kid talk to himself: so, when the kid first goes down for a nap he will either be very mad at me, or he will sit and talk to himself. The talking part is very cute... I appreciate those days.

Chocolate milk: I've been drinking a lot of this stuff lately... somehow it never gets old to me.

Good memories: I've found a lot of old friends on facebook lately. Some of them I friend, others I just smile at the memories.

9.28.2010

9.27.10

Wallets: this morning G woke up thinking that he had lost his wallet during his dirty dash escapade. After many searches through the house he resigned himself and went to work. He canceled cards, got a new drivers license... the whole 9 yards... only to find his wallet tonight before bed. HILARIOUS!

Dreaming of a car: today I spent dreaming of a car. Not just any car, one that wont be the death trap that is my husband's car. I would love to trade his in and stop worrying about when it's going to die.

Dragons: I was thinking today that flying on the back of a dragon would be cool, and a lot faster than normal transportation.

9.27.2010

9.26.10

Sad: today was a sad day. I had to lay on the couch since everytime I got up I started cramping badly. We're both fine... but it was still a long day.

Words: little D today was trying so hard to talk. It was hilarious to have him look at everything and say, "this?" wanting to know everything and do everything.

Little bums: the kid got away from me today without a diaper on... so funny and cute! Good thing he didn't have to go potty, cause then it wouldn't have been half as cute!
9.25.10

The Dirty Dash: today G went up and participated in the dirty dash. It's a charity race, but on steroids. He got to go through a 5 mile obstacle course in mud. He loved it and it was a good experience for him.

Playing with a giant puppy: so today I got to play with a gladiator puppy. (Half Mastiff, half Great Dane!) This little girl is going to be a HUGE dog! It was fun to play with her, and she had a beautiful coat, but boy am I glad that I'm not the mommy of that puppy! She's going to be bigger than me in a few months!

Test driving: I know we're going to have to get a new car soon, G's car is on it's last legs... so tonight Birch and I went test driving. It was a lot of fun with Birch, she and I have fun doing qwerky things together. It was fun, and now I think I know what I want. :)
9.24.10

The end of the week: I'm so looking forward to the weekend! It's so nice to know that G will be around, and even though he's got stuff tomorrow, I have plans with the sister... so I'm covered all the way around. It's so nice!

Thanksgiving point farm: we went to the petting zoo/farm tonight with the kid. It was sooo much fun. HE LOVED IT! He loved the animals, the kids, and the ice cream at the end too. It was a great family night that I want to do again soon!

Laughter: I'm trying to laugh more. I love to laugh and I've gotten so serious lately with all the things going on in life... so I'm thinking of things as funny... cause it's important to laugh.
9.23.10

Dr. Bean: I really like my drs. they are just great. I love the fact that they actually like what they do, and it shows in their practice. It's nice to go in and ask any question I want and have them be so open and honest about what to expect. I got to have my "new patient" appointment today... even though I'm not a new patient. I transferred to their office last time at 20 months so I didn't start my pregnancy with them. I got another ultrasound too! So fun! And since my mom got to come with me today she got to see the little peanut too. It was good times.

Hanging with the 'rents: I like to go over to my mom and dad's. Is that weird? I like to show up with the kid and have him play with my dad, or give my mom loves... I like to sit on their couch and feel like a kid for a few minutes. They fed me lunch today... it was so great.

No naps: no fun!
9.22.10

Little E: she is such a joy to have around. Today was so much fun to play with her and cuddle up. As the kids get bigger they have more fun together. I know that there will be more issues with "mine!" down the road, but right now they are just adorable!

Showers: I always look forward to G coming home on Wednesdays because if I'm lazy in the morning and dont get up early, I don't get to shower until he comes home. Just to much crazy happening at the house! So tonight it was luxurious to be able to get in the shower with the hot water and feel clean!

Songs: we've been singing to our Kindermusic CD... I can tell it's going to be fun to learn some of these songs... others... not so much.
9.21.10

Telling the in-laws: We went down to tell my cute mom and dad-in-law tonight our fun news. We wanted to make sure that this pregnancy was going to stick before telling them. The drs said that after you see the heartbeat the chances for miscarriage go down to 3%, so we're feeling pretty good about things. My dad-in-law got the shirt right away, it was cute. I think their excited for another baby to play with.

Kindermusic: today we had our first kindermusic class. It was so much fun and I'm so glad that L and Little E are going to the class with us. I'm amazed that it is such a workout! How funny is that! It's also fun to have the kids all love the music so much. I think this is going to be such a fun thing.

Naps: I took an "awake" nap today. I don't sleep, but I laid down and relaxed as the kid napped. Boy did I need that!
9.20.10

Pot Roast: I got up today and put a pot roast in. Oh... I'm so excited for dinner tonight!!! (Side note: as we ate dinner... seriously the best pot roast I've ever made!)

Cup Cakes: I got really domestic today and made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache in them and yummy chocolate frosting. I know... What got into me today?!? But we will be eating well. Yummmm!

Bed time: I kinda wore myself out today... so bedtime is a happy thought.
9.19.10

Chairs: the kid has developed a huge love affair with climbing chairs. Today I had him in class with me and he was happy as a clam as long as he could climb up and hop off the folding chairs. Hilarious.

Fruit snacks: today one of the other teachers gave Bug fruit snacks during sharing time. It was so cute to see his little face light up. It was amazing to have that kindness shown towards my kid and to have him be so cutely happy about it.

Chaos: I live in a house of chaos, the painting had to be put on hold (hello... baby... 1st trimester... no painting here...) and then on top of it I'm sick... so I have less energy than a dead battery. Let's just put it nicely, my house is a bomb shelter.
9.18.10

Morning sickness: who knew you'd be so thankful for something so horrible???

Date night: my cute niece came over tonight so that G and I could go out on a date. It was really nice to get out of the house after being inside all day. I love the salad... could have eaten the whole bowl on my own.

Future: I'm loving the idea of the next few weeks being through the storm that is sickness. I know that the next few weeks are going to be awesome as I start to feel the baby move, and get that little bump going. I guess I'm just really excited about the future right now.
9.17.10

Ultrasounds: today we got to see a little heartbeat. I must say that I hold my breath each time I go into an ultrasound. I think once you have one really bad one, all the others you have, you hope and pray that you don't have to go through ugly again. But today, we saw little A#2. So far the baby is looking healthy and strong. To see the heartbeat at 8.5 weeks is a real treat to me. I'm excited, and sick... so all is well.

Looking for shirts: I have this idea of telling my in-laws with a shirt. It says, "Only Child" (with the only child crossed out and underneath only child written in kid like type, "Big Brother!" It's fun that we'll be able to tell them now. Until now we didn't even know how far along I was.

Surprises: I have to admit that this pregnancy was a big surprise. It came at a weird point in my cycle, so everything has been off. I'm really liking surprises right now.

9.17.2010

9.16.10

15 month check up: so the kid is in the 88% for height, 80% for head circumference, and 62% for weight. So he's tall and skinny. :) Such a cute boy with such a fun personality. His one big think that cracks me up is how long it takes him to warm up to people (that he doesn't know or doesn't see very often). He's really not a people person like I am... he's a lot more like his dad! But he's such a good cuddler! I got so lucky with that. I love that he loves to give loves!

Haircuts: the kid looks like a little boy again. As it grows out it gets curly, and it's so cute... but let's face it... he's a boy and it's not nice to have such a pretty boy.

Halloween costumes: I got the kid his Halloween costume today. I'm so excited! He's going to be a little cowboy. So fun! Hooray for Halloween.
9.15.10

Stir crazy: I know I can't go out today... I'm still sick... but boy is this house an ugly place to be. :(

Internet: I spent a lot of time surfing the net today. It's my form of voyeurism today.

Netflix: AMAZINGLY AWESOME invention that I'm in love with. Now to get them to put all the movies on demand!
9.14.10

Sick: I'm sick, the kid's sick, we're all sick. Yay!

Laying on the floor with bear: we have a life sized stuffed teddy bear that the kid is absolutely in love with. I got to cuddle with bear today. It was actually kinda nice. The kid knew something was up so he actually was good and cuddled with me.

Climbing: the kid has become a little monkey. He can basically get up on all the furniture by himself and when he cant... boy do you hear about it! It's funny when he get's stuck. (Says the evil mommy.)
9.13.10

Hitting the ground running: there has been so many things I've had to push to the side as less important lately that today we hit the ground running. 4 stores and lots of things later... I'm tired!

Trail mix: I love nuts. I love dried fruit. Put them together and you have one of my all time favorite snacks!

Burp cloths: even at 15 months they still come in VERY handy from time to time.
9.12.10

Stake conference: Little man and I didn't go today because Little man is sick! But G went and took notes, and he even recorded it for me. I married a good man!

Laying on the floor: it can be hazardous to your health. I was laying down today and got body slammed by the kid. It was hilarious! Thank heavens he didn't break anything... he's a pretty good sized kid!

Dr. Suess: The kid has started bringing me books every morning to read to him. It is one of my favorite things. He will "read along" and point at all the pictures. I'm so excited he loves books. It makes my heart happy.
9.11.10

Birch's birthday: I think G said it best on her facebook page: "Birthday's are like boogers. The more you have of them, the harder it is to breath." Happy Birthday Birch!

Boogers: the kid's are starting to turn colors... not an exciting thought.

Big blue eyes: the kid looked up at me today and it was amazing. One of those, I love you mom looks... so cute, and heart melting!
9.10.10

Blood patch: Birch went in to get a blood patch because she was leaking spinal fluid and it was giving her migraines. After spending 24 hours lying flat she is finally starting to feel better! Who know what 20ccs of blood could do!

Birthday parties: last night we went to celebrate Little E's birthday. Wow did that year fly by! I sure do love that little cutie, she brings so much joy to the family.

Goldfish: I know if said this before, and recently too... but I think I have a new addiction... no bueno!

9.16.2010

9.9.10

Memory loss: you know those moments when you can't remember something... and you're almost glad you can't?! I had one of those today. Hooray for getting older!

Lime green: it's one of those happy colors to me. When I see lime green I think of spring, and fresh, and joy. I sure do like lime green.

Baby magic: doesn't it smell like a little piece of heaven?
9.8.10

Gratitude: It's an amazing thing to be grateful. When you choose to be grateful for the things in your life it makes all the things that are hard a little easier. Life can be hard, but when you realize all the good that you have, it's a wonderful life.

Scriptures: Peace in a book.

Diapers: I was reminded again today why cloth diapers will never be an option. Thank you Huggies for making things disposable!
9.7.10

Driving Miss Daisy: this week I've been able to drive my sister to and from work. I take her in the morning, and then depending on how long she lasts, I go pick her up, feed her, and put her to bed. It's kinda funny to think that if the shoe were on the other foot that it would be done far more efficiently, but she's got me... and I'm not half as efficient as she is.

Chubby cheeks: I love it when the kid starts to run across the room... his cheeks jiggle cause there soooo big!

Dissh: I think it means "this" but the kid is saying it all the time when he brings me things. It cracks me up.
9.6.10

Love: the best thing to have in your life.

Laughter: the second best thing to have in your life.

Hope: puts all the bad things in perspective.
8.5.10

Fast Sunday: I love fast Sunday. It is the day we are able to fast and pray for those important things in our lives. It's the day we pour out our hearts in supplication to the Lord... Oh how grateful I am for faith in knowing that as I sacrifice for something I believe in, that the Lord will help me in my needs and in the needs of those I love.

Laying in bed with my sister: when we were little kids we would lay for hours talking about different things. She's always been my secret keeper, and I've always been her's. We would talk about boys, about life, about what we thought our futures would bring. Today I got to lay on the bed with my sister. It brought back those memories, and solidified the fact that no matter what, I will always love laying in bed next to her... still talking about everything and nothing.

Chocolate milk: such a wonderful thing. Two great products rolled into one!
8.4.10

Saturday: I love the feeling Saturday morning when G gets up with the kid. I can hear them laughing downstairs as I slowly get out of bed. I love the giggles, the tickles, and the morning tackles the two boys in my life make. Such good morning noises!

Walks: I've been walking back and forth from my sister's house a lot. The kid is getting good at knowing at the end of the walk that he will see is Aunt. It's pretty darn cute!

Good intentions: with everything that has happened in our lives lately I've had such good intentions. "I'm going to catch up on the blog." "I'm going to finish painting the house!" "I'm going to not eat so much chocolate!" Yeah... Right...

9.13.2010

8.3.10

Taking the day off: G took today off a long time ago because we were supposed to go to Logan with a bunch of friends. Unfortunately with everything that is going on with Birch we decided to stay home and see if we can help with family needs. I'm still really glad that G was home. It is always nice to have him around and be able to be with him. Such a good guy!

Books: I've had time to read lately... sitting in hospital rooms and all... I'm so in love with books! Thank heavens or I'd be up the creek!

Pumice stones: I'm one of those people with ugly feet... you know, the kid that crack and look really yucky if you look at them up close. I'm grateful today for pumice stones that help me get rid of the ugly.

9.09.2010

8.2.10

Friendship: I think that it's amazing how friends (inside and outside of family) seem to be what can make you happy, help you clarify, and make you laugh when laughing seems impossible. I'm so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life.

The 'rents: my parents reaffirm on a daily basis how amazing they are. When I had cancer, they were there for every treatment they could be, they helped me as much as they could, and now I'm watching as they do the same for my sister. Last night my dad stayed at the hospital so that my brother-in-law could get some much needed sleep. He was out and about until after midnight, only to get up again the next day to do it all over again. Not bad for an "old fart."

Procrastination: I'm learning to embrace procrastination. I have no options, so let the games begin!
8.1.10

Making the little man walk: as we went down to UVRMC today to see Birch I had to make the kid walk. As a mom, I'm sure you can understand that taking a purse, a huge bag filled with things to entertain a 1 yr old, and a kid into the hospital from the visitor parking is a long and tedious journey... and heavy too! So the little trooper walked himself into the hospital. He was so proud of himself! He also got an enlarged head from the "oh how cute!" exclamations aimed his way. (He is pretty darn cute if I say so myself!)

Hurry up, to sit and wait: I have a new appreciation for this time old adage.

Love: it was endearing to me to see my little man run right up to my sister and want to be held. I know that he loves her and the hospital things didn't faze him at all. He spent most of the day sitting with Birch on her bed... cute little bugger.
8.31.10

Living close: this morning my brother-in-law called and asked if I could come over and help get kids off to school. My sister has been having problems with her mobile abilities and so was off to the hospital (after a quick blessing from her husband and my father). I was able, with the added strength of dad to help get the kids off to various schools, and after wards being able to be around when they got home. What a blessing to live one street away.

Prayer: I think that it is the most underestimated force on earth. The power of prayer is the ultimate factor in life. It is what provides the strength when you don't feel like you have any. I'm grateful to know that a loving Heavenly Father listens to me and answers my prayers.

Bed: tonight after a long prayer, I'm grateful for my own bed, knowing that my sister is in a hospital bed. Knowing that she would give anything to wake up in the morning and find that today was a dream. The tumor would be gone, and she would be in her own bed. Oh how grateful I am for mine.

8.31.2010

8.30.10

Chats: It was fun today to talk to some people that I haven't talked to in a while. I think my cell is getting old because after one conversation I had to charge the battery again. It was well worth it though! Fun to talk to amazing women in my life!

Weather: it's been wild and windy, but I love the temperature out.

Stairs: I have a love/hate relationship with my stairs tonight. I fell down them with the kid in my arms. Silly kid yinned when he should have yanged... oh well... at least I have 2 knees!
8.29.10

Making it through church: the little man has had a rough couple of weeks when it comes to handling church, but today, like a trooper, he made it!

Cakes: I like baking, too bad my house was clean yesterday... it isn't anymore.

Birthday parties: we went up the canyon to Southfork Park. It was a lot of fun! We ate well, gave presents to each member who had a birthday in August, and then played around. The kid is weird, but I think he did a fairly good job for being as tired as he was. Yay for family!

8.30.2010

8.28.10

Cleaning: you know how sometimes you just get the cleaning bug? Yup, it bit me today. I even got on my hands and knees and scrubbed my kitchen floor. I KNOW! WILD!

Sugar snap peas: I sure do love those sweet little buggers. The best part? Today I found out that the kid loves them too! Yay!

Glasses: I picked up my glasses today. So nice!
8.27.10

Puppies: I was thinking about puppies today. Not that we're going to be getting one, but their sooo cute! And when they grow into those wonderful loving dogs that sit next to you and grow old with you... I just love dogs.

Good news: I love getting good news from people, especially since when you get good news from somebody else it makes you think your life is good too. Isn't that weird? I like that factor, it's almost as if good news is contagious.

Sleep: I sure do love sleep. It makes me happy just thinking about it.

8.27.2010

8.26.10

Cheesesteaks: they're yummy.

Banks: I had to run to the bank today and go inside. The lady gave Bug a sucker. His first bank sucker ever. I have to admit it was funny to watch him try and figure it out. Turns out suckers have the appearance of non-messiness, but looks can be deceiving!

Couches: I love how comfy my couch is. I love that when I need to just lay down I can plop on my couch and it feels like a hug. Yes... I love my couches.

8.25.2010

8.25.10

Phineus and Ferb: yes, I do realize that I'm blogging about a kid show, but when I've got 2 babies in the house I try to keep the "noise" in the house as clean as I can. I actually laughed today... crap, I guess that means my mind is digressing!

Medical advancements: I was thinking today about the fact that if I had been born 60 years ago I would probably be dead by now because of my past choriocarcinoma... Sadly, now that I really think about it I wouldn't have made it through infancy because of my heart... but anyway I'm just grateful to live in a day and age that has the medical information to help save lives. (No commentary on the actual systems, just the information!)

Spaghetti: my husband knows me well, and when he knows that I've had a rough day he makes me homemade spaghetti. He must love me or somthing.
8.24.10

Mom's: I'm grateful for my mom today. She called up knowing that I spend my money on anything but me and told me we were going to go shopping. I came home with a few new shirts that have been greatly needed. I know it sounds silly, but it meant a lot to me.

Loves: it's hilarious how when my mom picks up the kid he instantaneously gives her loves. Just puts his head down on her shoulder and cuddles up. So cute!

Mockingjay: I downloaded the book to kindle this morning at 12am... okay so it was auto delivered... but still! I'm already half-way through.
8.23.10

Playing: I think it's funny that when I chase him around our couch my son will start scream laughing. It's hilarious. I try to do it as often as I can.

Yogurt: I have now passed my obsession with yogurt on to my son. He sees the little containers and points with a uuuhh? I think he could eat one for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Wind: a wind storm knocked down a section of our fence. Now I can see nicely into our neighbor's back yard. YAY!

8.23.2010

8.22.10

Squishes: We went over to meet little Max today. He is such a little sweetie! SO tiny, so precious! I could have just taken him home with me. I doubt I would have gotten far!

Chaos: today at church was a mad house! I think the kids all have the nervous wiggles from getting ready for school to start again. I'm going to be so glad when they are used to sitting in seats all day... church wont be as hard on them then.

Potatoes: we found some VERY old potatoes today. Lets just say... we need to clean out our pantry more... yuck!
8.21.10

Laura May: my sister had a birthday today. I love my sisters. They are such great examples to me. Laura has more compassion than anyone I know. She is loyal to a tee, and has the best laugh of anyone I know. Love you Laura!

Birthday shopping: It was a good day in the fact that I had a lot of errands to run and we were able to accomplish a lot of them. We got all the birthday shopping for the month of August done... which says a lot... lots of birthdays this month!

Funny comments: So Birch came over tonight with her husband D. D came in the house laughing because he was asking Birch if we knew they were coming over... I guess Birch answered with, "I'm always welcome here."

8.21.2010

8.20.10

Max! he came into the world today! Congratulations guys we love you lots!!!

Half days of work: G's company went to Lagoon today so all the employees got a half day of work. We didn't end up going, but it sure was nice to have G around the house.

Making a plan: after a month of having my house turned upside down, we made a plan today of when we're going to get the painting done in a reasonable amount of time. YAY!
8.19.10

Alligators: I was watching the history channel today and saw a preview for a show called swamp people. Really?!? It reminded me of when an old friend of mine called one of his ex-girlfriends alligator girl... Who wrestles alligators? Seems a little on the crazy side to me.

Kix: kid tested, mother approved! My kid likes to shovel them in his mouth until he can't fit any more. With his little mouth it is quite the feat.

Flashlights: the kid has started playing with flashlights, turning them on and off... it's funny and cute and a little nerve wracking all at once.
8.18.10

Naps: naps are for the good of both the adult and the child. When no naps happen no good can come for the adult or the child.

Gravity: I really like that song. It's a little morbid, but I still love it.

Yogurt: I stopped eating yogurt a while back, mainly because I ate so much I kinda got burned out on it. Now after a significant break I'm happy to say that I'm back to giving yogurt my love.
8.17.10

Cell phones: my niece got a cell phone today and we've been texting. So fun!

All the ducks are in a row: I had to scramble today and make a bunch of appointments but now that I'm done being on the phone it is nice to have everything be on a schedule.

My mom: today at lunch she asked the waiter if they had to kill the cow. It really was taking forever to get our food, but it was hilarious to have my mom ask.
8.16.10

Mondays: I used to hate Mondays because I had to go back to work. Now I just dislike them because G has to go back to work. :) At least they've been downgraded.

Shocks: I think everyone should have a good shock from time to time. I think that it helps you be thankful for the boring times of life.

Praying for others: one of the best gifts HF gives his children is the ability to pray. I'm grateful that I can extend my faith to others in their times of need.
8.15.10

David and Bethsheba: so one of the moms posted this on her facebook link after class was over today:

"H what did you learn in church today? "Umm...well there was a lady taking a bath on her roof and some guy was watching, and the next day he came and took her to his castle and married her, and then she got sent off to the worst war ever." So H what was the point of the lesson? "Ummm Not to sun bath on your roof"

... ya... so that's how my lesson went... I swear I taught the lesson as best I could... but I guess that 10 year old's hear what they filter.

Home teachers: I really really really love our home teachers. Just sayin...

Pancakes: we had sourdoughs today and the Russians came! I love having Katya & Jason come, but today Sveta and Vlad came too and it was a lot of fun. Such good memories!

8.14.10

Birthdays: today I have 2 nieces who share a birthday, they are on two different sides of the family, but they have a lot of similarities to them. So, today I'm grateful for all my nieces (and nephews) they add so much to my life!

Get 'er done! After 2 days of feeling yucky, today it was awesome to feel great and to be able to get some of the things on my list checked off! Yay! Smaller lists!

Prep time: so tomorrow I have to give the lesson on David and Bethsheba. Not looking forward to that at all... 10 year olds... and adult content... yay... *sigh...
8.13.10

Residual effects: so today G had the yucks. Must be a bug of some sort. So we just laid low. It was a nice relaxing night without much happening in the day.

Reading: My sister gave me some books to read. The Mortal Instruments series. It's actually been a really fun read, and since I haven't felt up to snuff, it was good to have a nice book to loose myself in.

Funny commercials: so... seeing a "larger" man in a wet suit can be hilarious... who knew?
8.12.10

The yucks: I think I must have ate something yesterday cause today is a NO GO! I'm saddened because yesterday was such a good day and today all I want to do is lay on the floor.

Laying on the floor: did you know that when you lay on the floor a 14 month old automatically thinks of you as his very own personal toy? We've had many fun games today on the floor. It cracks me up.

Missing friends: because of the above reasons we had to miss our monthly get together with friends. I always feel blessed they are in my life, even if I don't get to see them.
8.11.10

36 years: 36 years ago my husband was born. He's had a lot of guardian angels protect him to get to this point... lets hope for 36 more years of protection!

Squished: whenever little E comes over and the two little ones start playing together, I've noticed that they are either on opposite sides of the room... or squished together... It's actually kinda funny.

Cuddle time: since it was his birthday, G took the night off from homework and we had a good night together. It was very nice, and very relaxing.

8.19.2010

8.10.10

Birthday shopping: tomorrow is G's birthday! So the little man and I went and got him a daddy present. Its funny because I got a present for him... but now he gets another one from the little man! So really... I got to buy him 2 presents!

Grocery shopping: I went and picked up some things so that I can make chicken enchiladas. Fun side note, it was the first thing I ever made G when we were dating. He said he liked them more than his mom's (I'm sure he just wanted to make me happy) and so since they are his favorite, that is what he wanted for his birthday.

Homework: pretty much every night G has to sequester himself up in the office to do homework. I'm always thankful when he pushes it off a little bit so that he can spend time with our little family.
8.9.10

Peacemakers: I was told once that I'm a peacemaker. You know what that really means? I know when to keep my mouth shut!

Pictures: my dad took over 1000 pictures at the family reunion. It was 2 days people! Funny huh!!!

Cheese: I'm a fan of any food that has cheese in it. Any kind of cheese too... maybe I'm addicted to milk products... cause I really like ice-cream too...
8.8.10

Alarm clocks: so... we normally count on our kid to be the alarm clock. So when we all woke up at 9am this morning we figured we were going to be really late to church!

Laundry: so... the ox was in the mire!

Being there: I'm so grateful for when others are there for me. It makes it nice to be able to reciprocate when someone else needs me.
8.7.10

Pancakes: It was good to have a big family breakfast eating sourdough pancakes. It reminded me of my childhood and having them on a weekly basis. Such a good tradition that I'm hoping to pass on to my kids... especially since he ate 2 on his own.

Paddle boats: We got into a paddle boat and the kid instantaneously fell asleep. We also watched as the rest of our family went around the lake having fun with each other.

Cousins: I love how much the cousins all loved playing with my kid. He had so much fun going from kid to kid, laughing, screaming, being tickled and loved. I'm so grateful for such great kids in my life. I love them!
8.6.10

Driving: I love driving through the canyon. It is also good that the kid does well in the car, but there is something about the beauty of nature that is calming and happy.

Ziplines: Okay... expect the unexpected here... I, scaredy-cat crybaby of the universe, climbed up a cargo net, walked across a rope walkway and went down a zipline tonight! Sure, it tooke me 25 minutes to my husband's 3... but still! I impressed myself!!!

Snacks: my family rocks in the food department. It's fun to never be hungry!
8.5.10

Costco: So many wonderful things in that store... all in bulk... perfect for family reunions... amen.

Packing: don't you think that when you start the packing process you inevitably say to yourself that you're going to forget something... I've embraced that feeling, and raise you a "I'm going to forget 2 things!"

Piggies: you could think I'm going to talk about playing piggies with the kid... I'm not! We got some yummy pig we're going to make into wonderful yumminess! Umm Umm Yumm!
8.4.10

Tickles: what is better than a screaming/laughing kid?

Standing up: Little E is standing and trying to walk. It is hilarious because today she grabbed hold of the little man and he grabbed her arms... then proceeded to make Little E walk backwards... until they crashed. Hilarious!

Finger foods: the kid has decided to revolt against anything on a spoon. Thank heavens for finger foods!
8.3.10

Peeing on a stick: I like it when it comes back negative... at least this time I liked it! (I'm late, but now there's nothing to worry about!)

Prep time: I'm getting excited for our family reunion this weekend. I love spending time with family and I'm trying to find little things to do to make it fun for the kids.

Gratitude: I've had a lot of events happen, and a lot of things I'm looking forward to. I'm so grateful for my life. It has it's ups and downs, but overall, what a good ride.
8.2.10

Stress: I think that sometimes it's a good thing to be under high amounts of stress. For starters it reminds us of how good we normally have it, secondly, adrenaline is the mother of invention (forget about necessity!), and finally after solving a problem nothing feels better than letting go of the stress!

Freelance: I'm done for the time being... whew!

Support: I called G today in a total panic (see stress above) and he was able to calm me down, and help me find a solution as quickly as he could. I have my own personal computer handyman!
8.1.10

A new month: isn't it wild that it's already August?!? It amazes me how the older I get the faster time goes.

Testimony meeting: I love our little ward. We might be few in numbers but we're huge in spirit!

Afternoon naps: after playing so hard, our little family had a good nap... well I laid down and pretended... but it was still good down time!
7.31.10

Cracker Barrel: I love breakfast at the Cracker Barrel! So guess where we went this morning? YUM!

Dating: it was so amazing to feel like G and I were dating again. It was fun to just be goofy and laugh at things. I am reminded over and over again why I fell in love with this man.

Babies: we went home tonight and picked up the little man. He didn't really want to come home. I think that it is a tribute to my sister and her kids.
7.30.10

Sisters: my wonderful and amazing sister took the day off of work so that she could take my kid for the weekend! It was so amazing to me! It meant so much to be able to have that time with my husband without a kid around. Thank you thank you!!! You rock!

Movies: G and I were able to goof off all day today. It was so much fun! We went out to breakfast, went to a movie, ate some more... pretty much the perfect day for me.

Sundance: to end the night G took me to Sundance to their outdoor theater. I huffed and puffed getting up the hill... apparently I need to do more Zumba... but once we were there it was amazing to be on a hill, sitting on a blanket, snuggled up to G. Good times!
7.29.10

Memories: 5 years ago I got married. I'm so grateful to have such an amazing person in my life. Grateful that he loves me and grateful for the many ways he shows his love. I couldn't have asked for a better match to me. I love that man!!!

Family time: G took the rest of the week off, so today we spent time as our little family. It was so much fun to be together and I'm grateful for the down time.

Dates: since the little man was feeling better my in-laws took him so that G and I could go out to dinner. It was nice to go and get something fun to eat. Even if it took us forever to decide what we wanted.

8.06.2010

7.28.10

Sickos: the kid is sick today. I feel so sorry for him. His poor little bum...

Joints: have you ever noticed that when you're on the floor, your joints pop as you get up... yes, that is the sound of me getting older... you just have to laugh about it!

Laughter: I have always found it to be the best medicine. I'm grateful for a sense of humor when cleaning up isn't so fun.

8.03.2010

7.27.10

Loves: whenever the kid is wanting to cuddle or to be held I will say the word "loves" to him. He will promptly sit on my lap and cuddle up. Today we gave a lot of "loves."

Wipes: as I found out that the kid was giving loves because he wasn't feeling so good, I was also reminded quickly of why I love wipes so much. They are handy to have for many a messy situation.

Computers: I am so grateful to have my handy dandy laptop. It is so useful and if I need to be mobile while I work I can. Yay for the invention! (and Yay that they don't cost an arm and a leg anymore!)

7.26.2010

7.26.10

J's B-day: today is my nephew's birthday. It's amazing to me that 15 years ago I was in the room with my sister, her husband, and my parents to witness his birth. He came out with the most glorious hair. It was dark at the roots and had white tips. J has always been such a good kid and I'm so grateful for how much he loves my kid. Happy Birthday J!

Freelance X2: I got another smaller job given to me today. YAY!

Dad: my dad made me laugh today. He likes to tease, but at the end of the day I've always known that he loves me. I'm grateful for a dad that is not only a terrific father, but an amazing grandpa as well.
7.25.10

Chaos: I can only describe church today as chaos. Sacrament was loud, Sunday school was quiet, and sharing time was like walking into the zoo. I'm laughing right now because I can't believe that I'm comparing church with one of my family activities... but I totally am!

Friends: our Home Teachers came over today and the lesson was on friendship. I was humbled again by the blessing I have in my life of having such amazing friends. It amazes me how such wonderful people allow me to be a part of their lives.

Laughter: whenever my sister's kids come over the kid runs around the house with hysterical laughter. My in-laws came over after my sister's kids left and he was in such a great mood that it rubbed off and he was able to be very cute for them. Small blessings.
7.24.10

The day of painting: my niece came over today and G and I were able to paint without having a kid underfoot. We got the whole accent color painted. It's nice to have one section done, however, it's also daunting to have the rest of it to do! He he!

Pioneers: today is pioneer day! I'm grateful for my pioneer heritage. I'm grateful for the sacrifices they made so that I can have the advantages that are only here because of them. I'm blessed to know that I have English, Irish, Scottish, and French ancestors. The Irish and Scottish explain a lot. :) Blessed honored pioneers.

Date night with a kid: we are blessed to have a kid who is very well behaved. It's really fun to be able to go out on a date with him in tote and have him be a fun little man. He is so good at being entertained by his surroundings that when he is excited by playing with a straw G and I can have a good conversation. I love my little family.
7.23.10

Freelance: I was offered a freelance job today! I'm so excited and thankful. It's nice to be able to keep up my skills and be creative, but also it's nice to have some extra cash. :)

Subway: eat fresh.

Book of a Thousand Days: I LOVED this book. So cute! I have been on this kick of reading tween novels, and this one is one of my favorites now. I'm glad that I got those pamphlets from the library.
7.22.10

Dreams: I've always been a day dreamer, but I've also been blessed (cursed) with vivid dreams at night. Last night I had an amazing dream about a beautiful little newborn. (No, this isn't an announcement.) I'm grateful for the blessing of family and the fact that sometimes when I dream, my dreams come true.

Gravity: I first fell in love with this song because of SYTYCD, but today as my son accidentally turned on my ipod, I fell in love with it all over again.

Glasses: I wish my glasses were up to code (they are about 3 prescriptions old) but today I'm grateful for the fuzziness that is my sight with out contacts. I laughed at myself today as I bumped into things and stepped on things... It makes me giggle just to think about it. Thank heavens I live in the day and age of contacts.

7.21.2010

7.21.10

Baby tables: my mom gave me the table that I grew up drawing on. It is currently in my family room and my kid loves playing under it. Today he took his cousin and was pointing to the top of it. He was talking gibberish, but I swear, she looked like she understood what he was trying to say.

Naps: it's a beautiful thing when 2 babies sleep at the same time.

The smell of fresh basil: I love it. It makes me happy because it makes me think of the yumminess I'm about to consume.
7.20.10

The counter-top by the fridge: sadly for years the counter-top by our fridge has been the landing place for all things that I don't know what to do with. It's been pretty bad... but since I'm prepping for painting all those sad and lonely things finally had to find a home today. It's amazing how good it feels to see it completely cleared off.

Goo-gone: seriously one of the best products on the planet. SERIOUSLY!

Bath time: I love watching the kid be so happy in the water. Even thinking about it brings a smile to my face. I love his high pitched little squeal he gives when he is kicking his legs and the water splashes him, I love how he plays with the ripples in the water and is fascinated by the drain, I guess I just love the kid...
7.19.10

Getting out of the house: there is something to be said for being a homemaker and the power of just getting out of the house. It's beautiful.

Prepping the house: I spent a good chunk of time today prepping the house for painting. I also was able to get one wall primed too. It was a pretty productive day.

Phones: sadly I'm one of those people that when I forget my phone at home I feel lost. I love my iPhone and the games/books/texting it gives to me.
7.18.10

Ruth: I love the Book of Ruth. I remember growing up that after my mom and I had read through the whole of the BofM we would pick other books to read and the Book of Ruth was one of my favorites. I was able to teach my Primary class today about Ruth and the example Naomi set for her. The beauty of obedience and the power true conversion has in the lives of family. It was a good day.

Parents: G's parents spoke in church today so we went down to their ward. I am amazed at the growth of my mother in law. Her sweet testimony is such a blessing in my life.

Brownies: we got this awesome recipe from my sister for these decadent brownies. G made them this morning and we took them to his parents house. If I say so myself they were pretty darn tasty! Good thing they were polished off or I might just have sat and ate them in a corner by myself.
7.17.10

Bridal showers: my friend K is getting married and it was so fun to go to her shower today and to see her. It was also fun to see my friends from the good old Mt. Mahogany ward. It's amazing how one singles ward has had such a profound effect on my life.

Top teeth: the kid's top teeth are coming through. I feel bad for him because they are such slow movers, but it's also fun to see them when they finally poke through. He's getting so big...

Chillin with the man: we were invited to go out tonight but it has been such a long week that we opted to stay in and just be with each other. We really don't get that very much anymore and so if we have a block of time that is longer than 15 minutes we really cherish it.
7.16.10

Fabric: I went and picked up the fabric today. It was just as pretty as I remember it being. I'm so excited to start my projects and am anxiously awaiting it being done! (Too bad I'm the one doing all the work and can't just sit back and watch someone else do it... that's the lazy voice inside my head speaking...)

Pattern sales: I went back to check to see if any patterns were on sale. Guess what?!? There were, so I picked up a couple of cute ones for down the road. Look at me turning all Molly!

Friday nights: it's nice to have that end of the week sigh of relief... it helps you know you've made it.

7.15.2010

7.15.10

Adventures: it's nice when you wake up in the morning with nothing planned to have an adventure thrust upon you! Yay for best friends who make us eat yummy waffles and go to adventurous places!

Nieces: I have the best ones in the world.

Fabric: my fabric came in and I get to go get it tomorrow. I can't hardly wait! I almost woke the kid up from sleep just so I could go pick it up. I know! It's insane how excited I am!!
7.14.10

Consistency: I've exercised 3 days in a row now... I know! I'm smokin'!!!

Thai food: it is nice to go out and eat at a yummy restaurant, it's even nicer when it's with a good friend.

Spinning: the kid has started spinning around in a circle... normally with his lips pursed. It cracks me and my husband up because he will do it without any warning. It isn't even to music! So... it leaves me to wonder what is going on in that cute little head.
7.13.10

Mirrors: today as I was out shopping with my mom and my sister the kid went up to one of the mirrors in the store and started kissing himself. It was HILARIOUS!

Superman... No... Batman! I got one of those reversible capes today! The kid doesn't get it yet, but someday he'll love me for it.

Laughter: I think a good laugh is the key to life. When it is hard to laugh, it's then that we need to laugh the most.
7.12.10

Zumba: I started Zumba today. I'm actually really excited and happy I got it. Now lets hope I can keep the momentum... I know... It's only one day!

Dancing Machine: I really, really, REALLY, love watching my kid dance. It's hilariously funny.

SYTYCD: We watched it tonight together. It was last week's show and I was so sad that Alex got hurt. I even teared up a bit. Yes... I am that geek.
7.11.10

Samson: I have to admit. It isn't one of my favorite Bible stories. I mean... who likes to admit that even the strong can fall to the lure of a seductive woman? But today as I was teaching the kids about Samson and Delilah I found myself feeling a bit sorry for the guy's repentance process.

A clean house: I love having my house clean on a peaceful Sunday afternoon.

Pursed lips: the kid will sometimes walk around the house with his lips pursed like he wants to give someone big kisses. It's the funniest little look to me... Sadly when he actually is trying to give kisses he opens his mouth...

7.14.2010

7.10.10

Laziness: I admit it, I was lazy this morning! It felt very good... and then the to-do list kicked in.

Canyon food: we went up the canyon tonight a little fun with friends. I have to admit to loving canyon/camping food. There is just something about a dutch oven that makes me happy.

Dirt: It was really fun to watch the kid play in the dirt. He is 100% little boy. He even ate some. Hooray for baths when we get home!
7.9.10

Grocery shopping: I love going with a list and hunting for the best price. I'm not as good as some of my thrifty friends, but I still love finding a deal.

Old friends: you know that old saying that "old friends are the best friends"? Well I agree completely. Only with an old friend can you spend a Friday night after a long week, not say as much as you normally do, and still feel completely comfortable in their presence. Hooray for old friends.

Sleeping babies: as we drove home tonight the kid fell into a deep sleep. It was nice to take him out of the car and have him curl up into me. He's so cute when he's dead to the world.
7.8.10

Libraries: I went to the library today. You'd think that with how much I read I'd be a permanent fixture! Howsomever... I've never been before. I got pamphlets that the librarians had made with suggested books to read. I think I may have taken about 20 of them... so sue me! I like books!

The City of Ember: the book I'm now reading because of the library visit. So far so good.

Good night kisses: my husband came home tonight. Later than I like to be up... but I still got my kiss so I'm happy.

7.07.2010

7.7.10

Business trips: I'm a fortunate woman to have a husband who loves his job, and is good at it. He left today for a business trip. I can't say that I enjoy him being gone, but I am grateful for the fact that it helps his career when he steps up to the plate. I married a good man.

Houses: I got to tour the house that my best friend is buying today. It is a very cute house that needs a little bit of work. I'm very excited for her since she and her husband have been looking for a house for a long time now. The best part? I clocked it... 3 minutes door to door!

Pandora: as I sit here in my house, updating my blog and playing on the computer I'm listening to Pandora. What a wonderful station. I sure do love it! Nice and mellow music streaming out and making me quite happy.
7.6.10

Register the car: so on Sunday we were pulled over. I HATE that feeling. It makes my stomach clench up just thinking about it. I had a friend in college that could get herself out of any ticket. Sadly this is not my talent. So when the policeman said that my registration had expired I was so thankful to show him the documentation that proved that I had done all the leg work, but because it was a holiday weekend the state was closed and I couldn't go get my sticker until today. Bless his heart he let me off! Guess what was on the top of my list to do this morning??? Yes, I'm now the proud driver of a registered car!

Lone Star Taqueria: I went and had a yummy lunch with an amazing friend today. I love those days. :)

Benadryl: So at the yummy lunch I had some fish taco (it was good, but I liked the steak quesadilla better... thankfully!). I keep telling myself I'm not allergic to fish, and my body keeps proving me wrong. Hives and a thick throat stinks big time! Benadryl is a gift from a loving Father in Heaven who doesn't like a sad little N.
4.5.10

Breakfast: we went to a family gathering at my in-laws house this morning and it was very yummy and very fun. I love how my sister-in-law and her husband love to take pictures. It's awesome. The two baby cousins got to play together and it's always fun to sit and chat as family. Good times!

Hose: the kid found out today that the garden hose is a much funner toy than his kiddie pool. Go figure... had I known this in the first place why buy the pool? We already had the hose!

Couscous: made dinner tonight and it was a couscous chicken dish... I really liked it... too bad the leftovers aren't as good... le sigh...

7.4.10

Baby Bear: We were able to go down for the blessing of a good friend of ours today. He is such a little sweetie! I'm so grateful to have such amazing friends... and Manda can COOK!

Book Covers: My dad is writing a book about one of my ancestors and I've been able to help him a tiny amount by designing a book cover for it. It's amazing to see the spirit of Elijah come through our family.

Fires: Our neighbors just put in a fire pit. It was fun to go to sleep tonight with the light of their bonfire flickering against our windows.
7.3.10

Good babies: I have myself a good baby. Although I'm not sure he qualifies as a baby anymore... He's such a good kid and such a little lover. I sure do love getting "tisses" from him.

Slip and slides: at our family party today my sister brought a slip and slide. It was fun to watch the little man splash in the water. It was even more fun to see the other kids play with him while he splashed in the water.

Brownies: Birch made the best brownies! Holy hannah! SOOOO good. Too bad I'm going on a diet. (I know... I'm sad about it too, but I want to get pregnant again soon and if I still have the baby weight on when I get preggo I think I'll shoot myself!)
7.2.10

Automobile: Whenever I hear the full word "automobile" I think of the scene from 16 candles... yes... I know... Anyway I went to pick up my car today and was so impressed with the service. The men who run the shop are good men and I felt like they wouldn't try to pull one over on me because I was a woman. They definitely have a loyal customer now.

Over the river and through the woods with Grandma we must drive... I think my mom might be getting sick of the sight of me. But I sure love being with her!

Hikes: my husband went on a hike today with a good friend of his. I like it when he gets out and does something good for himself. It makes him so nice. :)

7.02.2010

7.1.10

Fasting: if you are fasting with a purpose, it can be one of the most meaningful experiences of life... otherwise it's just starving.

Fabric: my mom and I went to the fabric store today and it was sooooo much fun. I love design, I love coming up with ideas, I love putting fabrics next to each other and envisioning what it will do to a room or a home. It was so much fun to spend time with my mom and to be able to play with her. It reminded me of my sluff days during high school. I would always sluff to go play with my mom.

Feast: I had to do another word that started with "F" because it sounded like a fun thing to do... Fasting, Fabric, and FEAST! After a long day of fasting we went to dinner and had some yummy BBQ. Not only finger licking good (I got ribs!) but it was also a great way to start off a 4th of July weekend.
6.30.10

Little E: she gets more and more fun to watch. As she plays with my son it amazes me how similar and yet how different they are. I sure do love that little girl!

Pictures of Jesus: I have a picture of Jesus on my wall that is pretty close to where our baby gate is. Whenever I pass the picture with my son in my arms he always dives for it. He will pat the picture and start talking in his baby talk way... It just melts my heart.

Camp meetings: we were able to have a conclusion meeting tonight with all the members of the stake leadership. It was really fun to see all the people that I worked so closely with during girls camp. I feel so blessed to have made such great friendships and to have learned so much from these wonderful people!
6.29.10

Costco: I went and got a lot of yummy fruit today... but now comes the eating it part... large quantities means a LOT of fruit!

House shopping: I'm not planning on moving, but I went to look at a house today. It is really close to my parents and if I'm being totally honest, if you could get the house at the right price it would be awesome. One of my dreams is to live close enough to my mom and dad so that as they age they can stay in their home until the day they die, feeling comfortable and safe.

Laughing: I had a really good laugh with my sister over the house. The lady who lives there priced it at $569,900 and it it probably worth around $300,000 (way over priced... if it was in pristine condition it would be around $420,000 but it needs AT LEAST $100,000 worth of work to it, so doing the math... you get my point.) I love to laugh!
6.28.10

Motivation: I woke up this morning ready to take on the world... I'm not sure where that came from but it sure made for a productive day! LOVE it!

Fried Chicken: not healthy, but so yummy! It was my first real attempt at making fried chicken and I totally recommend the breading be with panko and parm cheese!

Support: my husband is in school right now and he needed time to do homework tonight. It is amazing to me how some nights it's hard, because I need a break from the kid, while other nights it's totally easy. Thank heavens tonight was easy!

6.27.2010

6.27.10

Church: there are just those days that you remember that you really are supposed to be there and that good things come from being obedient.

Home teachers: I really like our home teachers right now. I hope they aren't changed any time soon. I love the feeling they bring into our home.

Sourdoughs: we had our family sourdough pancake night. I love it when my dad starts teaching. He is such a good dad... and has so much knowledge. His wisdom is appreciated as I'm starting my little family and want to raise good, healthy kids.
6.26.10

Icelandic Days: we went down to Spanish Fork today for Icelandic Days. My husband's family has Icelandic heritage and it is a great tradition to go down and be a part of. We missed the morning shift, but we were able to go down and be there with his family for a bit. I'm grateful to know my kids will grow up with an appreciation for where they come from.

Memorials: we also went by my husband's grandparent's graves. We got some flowers and spent a little time walking through the cemetery. (Morbid note... I love cemeteries! I could wander around them for hours!) There is such a beautiful peace you can feel when you are there. I know there is heartache to some who visit, but on a whole I feel that those who are resting there have found peace in the afterlife and as Brigham Young said, Our ancestors are more interested in our lives than we are (paraphrased). Whenever I go and visit I'm reminded of that phrase and I'm comforted to know that there are many on the other side who love me and who are rooting for me. It also reminds me that I'm not alone.

Heart to hearts: tonight I had a great talk with my main man. Sometimes it's nice to be able to sit and get on the same page again.
6.25.10

Lunches: I went out to lunch with a friend from the good ol' working days today. It's always fun to get caught up on the latest news of people that I enjoyed working with. I'm amazed that it's been over a year since I stopped working full time. It was worth it, but at times I miss the creativity I had. I guess I should be channeling all that inner design into my house... anyone have any extra cash they want to throw my way?!? :)

Boo: So my kid has started saying BOO! I guess it was only a matter of time. It has been his favorite game for a long time... and I shortened the peek-a-boo to just BOO! So he decided to come around the couch today to where I was sitting and say BOO! Then he walked around the couch and did it again. Seriously cute... and he is now saying it all the time!

The Compound: has it really been 4 years that we've been hanging out with our friends on a regular basis? Wow! I'm so grateful for these amazing people in my life. I love them so much. I learn about myself and who I want to be when I'm around them. I hope someday they don't figure out that I'm just a big goof! (Maybe they know and just look the other way.) :)

6.24.2010

6.24.10

Splatter stuff: I honestly don't know what it's really called. I guess I could get off my lazy behind and go see... but it's in the kitchen and I don't want to. :) Today I found out that there are spray bottles that if you have a textured wall will mimic your walls... so if you have dings in your wall or had to fix some holes then you can re-texture the spot and whala--you're good as new. I don't know why this excites me so much, but it does.

New haircuts: the last time I had a haircut it was September of 2009. Yes friends, it's been a while. So today I was able to cut the ragamuffin head and start with a fresh new doo! Now I just have to dye my gray and we'll be all good.

Fun news: I found out last night that a dear friend is expecting her first baby. I love hearing fun news like that. It makes me happy for her. I also found out that my best friend is putting an offer in on a house. Good news all the way around because the house she is offering on is 5 minutes from mine. How is this a bad plan?
6.23.10

Laps: today when I had Little E and Bug, Little E was having a hard moment. So in order to comfort her he decided to sit on her lap. (This is what he does to us when he wants to give loves.) It was hilarious! I saved her just in the nick of time! Considering how much bigger my kid is than Little E, it could have turned out very badly!

Pull ups: Little E on the other hand is learning how to pull herself up by grabbing things... Bug got grabbed and they both went tumbling down... also a hilarious moment!

Laying down: I had a moment this afternoon that reminded me of the grim days after I got home from my mission. I was light headed and blacked out. How grateful I am for a husband who lets me lay down and takes over when I don't feel well. After a few minutes I felt better and was back at the races. Thanks babe for being my white knight!
6.22.10

Shelves: I've got a "fix it" dad. He really is the man of all trades. He can turn a wooden bowl, garden like a pro, be a photographer, break a horse, ski like a professional... you name it, my dad has probably done it and if he hasn't done it, he'll try it and then be good at it. So... when I have something that needs to be done I normally call my dad if my husband can't do it. This morning he came over to fix a shelf that fell down. Good man...

Shopping: I was able to take the afternoon to go shopping with my mom and sister. We got the cutest shirt for Bug. I'm hoping that I can get some family pictures taken soon... so he's going to be a little stud-muffin!

Ties: I got my man some new ties. I bought 2 that I know he'll like, and 2 that he's just going to have to suck it up and wear because I like them. :)

6.23.2010

6.21.10

Ferris Bueller's Day Off: every time my husband has a day off from work I think of it as a sluff day. Even though it's legal, he takes the time off, etc... I still in my mind think that someone is going to turn him in. Today he took the day off to be with me and it was a wonderful day! Thanks for sluffing with me babe!

Going to be with Grandparents: we were able to spend some time today with my husband's parents. It was really nice to go down there and play with them. On a funny note, they have a stereo system in their living room and the kid had played with the volume. When grandpa turned it on it was so loud that Bug almost jumped out of his skin. SO FUNNY!

Costco: we went to the bigger costco down south today and it was fun to see the things they have at that store that we don't have at ours.
6.20.10

Father's Day: it is wonderful to have a day dedicated to dads! I love my dad. He is in my opinion one of the best fathers of all time. I'm also lucky to have a great husband who loves our kid with his whole heart and is an amazing father. I have a great father-in-law, amazing friends who are great dads, and brothers that love their kids and make our family a wonderful thing to be a part of. Most of all I know I have a Father in Heaven who made all this possible. How truly blessed I am to know of His love for all of His children.

Good food: as with all celebrations, I think it is a great excuse to eat a lot of calories!

Cuddle time: I've been getting caught up on my sleep, (thanks to my husband for that) and my favorite part of the day is being able to snuggle up to a good man. I love you babe!
6.19.10

Sleep: after a week of little to no sleep, my husband let me sleep in this morning. I'm happy to say I was able to get 14 hours of uninterrupted sleep! Yay!

Shopping: we went out as a family today and got some Father's Day shopping done. I love buying ties! I know it's a little redundant to give ties... but you've never seen the kind of ties I give!

Date night: my sister and brother-in-law came over tonight so that my husband and I could go out on a date. It was so nice to go and just be with him! Good food, brainless movie, and grocery shopping... It was a great date! (even with the grocery shopping!)
6.18.10

Breaking camp: it was amazing to me how fast people wanted to go home... it's as if they missed their showers or something!

Showers: there is nothing quite like the feel of standing under hot water after a week of camping.

Family: it was so good to see my husband and son. I love my little family and feel so blessed that they missed me as much as I missed them. Bug was so happy to see me! He would come and pat me, sit on my lap, give hugs, then get up and do a little dance just to pat me again, sit on my lap again and give me more hugs. I love being a mom!
6.17.10

Skits: after the wind yesterday we canceled skit night and instead had it this morning. It was so much fun to see the different wards and what they came up with for skit night. As the stake we had a dance off... ya gotta love the priesthood that can let loose and make the girls laugh that hard!

Cardboard: who know 100 boxes and copious rolls of duct tape could produce so much fun! The wards made forts and we were able to go around afterward and see the themes they came up with. It was very fun to watch. We even came up with the "Pearl Awards" for them... Hilarious!

Devotionals: We had a young man come up tonight to give a devotional to the girls on their last night at camp. His name is Lance and I have to say that after much prayer and fasting on most of the leaders parts, he gave the devotional to dream of. He was able to get to a personal level with the girls and to motivate to do good. I was truly impressed with this young man and I hope my son turns out to be as amazing as this kid is! After the devotional the wards went back to have testimony meeting together. It was a great night!
6.16.10

The groove: I feel like today I've hit my groove when it comes to camp. I've been having fun, but today I felt like I have actually been able to contribute!

Typhoons! Okay so it wasn't a real typhoon, but it sure felt like one. We've had several camps have some severe destruction going on! Tents going down, canapes flying, rain everywhere! It's so cold I think some girls might turn into Popsicles! Oh the joys of camping!

Mau: after the destruction dissapated a little the leaders settled down for a nice, friendly game of mau. Seriously... I never knew it was so hard to laugh with your mouth shut! So fun!
6.15.10

Feeling lost: I'm horrible at names, horrible with remembering things unless they are written down, and now I'm one of the people in charge?!? It's a dirty little trick! But I'm having so much fun at camp I don't really care!

Breakfast: we made breakfast for everyone as the wards came into camp. It was fun to see people and to be able to welcome them into camp. It also tasted very good... We've got some great men at camp who really know how to cook!

Faith hikes: although each ward was able to put into the hikes what they wanted them to be for their girls, it was awesome to watch it in the works. My own ward had a cool experience where their YW President wanted to take a girl off the path and let her go to the tree of life without staying on the path, the girl wanted to continue the journey and one of the girls behind her (who didn't know the girl at all) started to help her stay on the path and tried to tell Julie to leave her alone. How often in our lives are we helped by a total stranger? I know that people try to help me all the time, and I'm so grateful for them.
6.14.10

Last minute: I had to run around today to get last minute details done for camp before leaving... whew!

Putting up a tent: who knew it could be such a hilarious experience! As we set up camp with the help of our YCL's I couldn't help but giggle when they asked me how to do something. It was the blind leading the blind! Good thing other people were around who knew what they were doing!

Firesides: I was able to talk tonight with the YCL's and have a quick devotional. I've been preparing for this for months. I always know that I'm allowing the spirit to touch my heart when afterward I don't remember what I said... so I must have been really feeling the spirit since I don't remember a word!

6.13.2010

6.13.10

Toilet paper: you don't realize how much you love having it until you run out.

Listening to the jabber: I love listening to my kid as he talks to himself. He is so like me in the way that he likes to talk even if it is only to himself.

Necklaces: I was able to finish up 9 hand made necklaces today for my YCL's. I'm very happy they turned out so cute!
6.12.10

Countdowns: as camp gets closer and closer I get a little bit more excited and scared at the same time. Does that make any sense at all?

Netflix: I'm in love with the xbox feature. I've now had on movies and TV shows in the background as I pack and get things ready for camp.

Mail: my stamp set came today in the mail! Whoo-hoo!!! Yes I'm really that weird! (But I can make my own personalized jewelry now!)
6.11.10

Birthday boy: our little man turned 1 today. SO FUN! I can't believe that the time has gone by so fast but I'm so thankful for this little dude in my life. He's amazing to me!

Chocolate cake: Oh my heck it was good!

Presents: the kid totally scored!
6.10.10

Panic: I think that sometimes panic is the best motivator on earth!

Tylonol Cold: quite possibly the best drug on earth. Maybe not, but I'm just saying...

Pretzels: I sure do love them!

6.10.2010

6.9.10

Huge smiles: little E has this smile that is seriously half her face. With the two little teeth that have popped out on the bottom, when she smiles it's like a ray of sunshine!

Having the man around: my husband worked from home today and it was VERY nice. We even did an early dinner and took the kid to have some noodles. The little man also got a very cute haircut for his first birthday!

Skits: we got together tonight to work on the stake skit for girls camp. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Our priesthood leaders aren't afraid to do anything kooky... it's great!

6.08.2010

6.8.10

Sleep: last night I totally caved and took copious amounts of "aid" so that I could sleep. It was wonderful! I woke up before the alarm went off and felt rested and relaxed. I love that feeling!

Shopping: I was able to go out today (without the kid!) and get some shopping done for the upcoming events of life (1st birthday and camp). I'm so grateful for a sister who loves my kid as much as he loves her! Seriously, when she's around I'm totally chopped liver. YAY! At least there is one person I can pawn him off on!!!

Taco eating contest: my husband's work had a taco eating contest today. One of his friends on his team ate 24 tacos! Talk about indigestion! Ger only managed 5, but he's still talking about how much it hurts. Kinda funny if you ask me!
6.7.10

Laying in the grass: it was such a nice day today that Bug and I went out and laid in the grass together for a few minutes. He got up faster than I did and wandered around the back yard pointing at things and grunting for my approval. It was sure cute.

Mama: Bug has been saying mama for a long time now, but it has been in that kid way where you know he is applying it to the women of the world and not just me. We've been working on that by me patting him and saying his name, then patting my husband and saying Dada, and then patting me and saying Mama. He mimics us when we do this and he still cries my name when he's sad or hurt, but today... oh today! He came up to me out of the blue without me coaxing him, patted my arm and said Mama. Totally melted my heart.

Appreciating what you have: I've been trying to focus on the good and not on the stress. With camp less than a week away and my lists getting longer and longer... It's not as easy as it seems. :) Tonight as I sit on the couch after throwing out my back, I am forced to try and relax and focus on the good. I really am blessed with such a great family and friend network. I hope you know how grateful I am for all of you!
6.6.10

Teaching: I co-teach the 10 year old primary class in our ward. Today we talked about the ten commandments. I've read and heard the story hundreds of times over my life and I still taught it wrong! I swear... I'm going to get fired! However, I think the kids all enjoyed teasing me. :)

Long naps: the kid took a 3.5 hour nap this afternoon! Seriously!!! It was so nice to have the down time to sit and appreciate the quiet. I don't get much of that so I love it when it happens!

Chilling with the family: we went down to see my in-laws after the kid woke up and it was good to see them. Bug fell in love with the balloons they had from their homecoming, and grandma and grandpa gave him one to take home with him. It is his new favorite thing.

6.07.2010

6.5.10

Elbow grease: I scrubbed my kitchen floor today... my house now smells like Mr. Clean. It's a great smell!

Blue skies: I love going outside on such a beautiful day!

Movie night: We went out with my sister and her husband to see Prince of Persia. I'd heard bad things about it, and so I went in with low expectations. I love it when that happens because I was able to enjoy the movie for what it was. Entertainment!
6.4.10

Dancing queen: sometimes blasting ABBA as loud as you can makes for a very happy dance marathon.

Little plants: I love going out to the garden and watching the little plants grow. We have our first buds that are going to make little peppers. I'm so excited!

Old books: I'm one of those people who can read a book over and over again. I think I've read Pride & Prejudice every year of my life since I was 12. So, I'm a book hoarder. When I have the urge I go into my office, pick a book and read away... even if it is for the 21st time.
6.3.10

1100 Jewels: there's nothing quite like putting 1100 jewels on wooden tokens.

Pulled pork: I've been smelling it all day and I'm very glad I got to eat it tonight.

Parents: we saw my in-laws tonight for the first time since they came home. It was really good to see them!

6.03.2010

6.2.10

Red Mango: I love their yogurt. One of my besties took me there months ago and I was hooked! I'm a particular fan of their original flavor with some strawberries on it. YUMM!

Get'ur'done! every time I hear that expression I hear a lovable redneck saying it (in my head). It's been my mantra as of late. As I desperately try to get all the ducks lined up for all the things going on in my life I hear my studly redneck cheering me on!

Dish washer: my husband asked what he could do for me tonight (stress levels are high) and so my amazingly awesome husband did the dishes. He also rubbed my shoulders and made me laugh. How lucky am I to have such a great man in my life?

6.02.2010

6.1.10

Painting: I was able to paint 1100 little wooden disks today. I know... I rock! (They are for girls camp.)

Blankets: I also got one of the blankets I've been meaning to sew done today. I seem to be on fire! It's really cute with monkeys on it.

Craft stores: they have so many cute and fun things in them. I wish I were rich and could buy anything I want. :)
5.31.10

Memorial Day: I'm so grateful for the men and women who serve and protect our country. I am very blessed to be in a country with the freedoms and liberties I have.

Kick ball: it was fun to watch my family go out and play with the kids. We played kick ball and I sat on the sidelines and cheered with Little D.

Food: I love the comfort of summertime BBQ food. I could eat all day!
5.30.10

Being released: I'm now down to 2 callings! I'm grateful for a little less stress!

Mommy time: there are times when it is hard to be the one the kid wants all the time, but there are other times that I'm grateful he knows that I love him and will protect him and take care of him. He had another rough day.

Sitting in the sun: I went into our back yard today and sat and enjoyed the breeze. It was very nice.
5.29.10

Coming home: my sweet in-laws are coming home from their mission next week. It's a little early, but for medical reasons they will be home. I'm so excited to see them and I am excited to have them be a part of our lives on a regular basis again.

Date night: even though the kid isn't quite back to normal yet my husband and I went and saw Robin Hood tonight. It was a great movie and I'm thankful for family that takes care of crying boys!
"Don't worry and enjoy yourself" I really do have great sisters!

Tillers: We bought a low grade tiller for our back hill, aka the jungle. best. buy. ever!
5.28.10

Migraine: I know it's not something normal people are thankful for, however, when you have one and your husband decides to stay home from work to help take care of you and the kid... that makes for a much better day!

Holding a little boy: he's getting his top teeth in and seriously wants to be held all. the. time! So instead of being annoyed by not having hands I'm looking at it as a gift. Someday he won't want to be held and loved. Someday he'll want to be held and loved by a different girl. So today I will hold and love my little man, storing up the sweet snuggles in my memory bank.

Touching my toes: every once in a while I try to touch my toes to make sure I can still do it. Guess what! I can!
5.27.10

Camp songs: I've been researching camp songs. Mainly because I want to get in the mood for camp. I'm hoping that going around singing all these songs will make me the cool goof-ball and not the crazy lady all the girls run from.

Green grass: the year I had cancer, we kinda let our yard go to pot. Seriously. It became our jungle. In the following years we've attempted halfheartedly to get the yard in order. One year we burned the grass and had cow spots... no joke... However this year we actually have a pretty yard! The grass is green, the weeds are pulled (front yard only, but at least it's a start), and we actually have a little garden! I know! It's shocking!

Goggy gog: it's how the kid is saying doggy dog.
5.26.10

Little E: after a drought of not having Little E around we were able to play with her today. It was so much fun! She is sitting up on her own and it makes for a lot more interaction between the two cousins. Of course they are both at that "I want that toy so I will take it away from you" phase... but still... it's cute!

Toes: I didn't mention this the day it happened, but I remembered it today and it made me laugh all over again. The other day out of the blue our little man went up and bit his dad's big toe. It was hilarious. I've never heard my husband squeal that way before. I guess Little D's teeth are sharp!

Noses: Little D is learning to honk noses. It's funny because he doesn't quite get that he can stop squeezing.

5.26.2010

5.25.10

Dancing: we were able to go see my niece and nephew in their school dance program. Each grade does a dance. It was so fun to watch, and it was hilarious to watch my 11 month old bob along to the music.

Cafe Rio: I love their pork tostadas. SO yummy!

The princess and the frog: we saw the movie today for the first time. It was really cute. I love how the dad teaches the principal that you can wish on a star, but it takes hard work to accomplish your goals. Very true.

5.25.2010

5.24.10

New toys: I've been blessed to be the recipient of many a hand-me-down. From cloths to toys and all sorts of the great things in-between. I'm so grateful for these amazing gifts as I wander through the toy section of the stores. What a blessing it is to have a houseful of things for my baby and know that they were gifts from the hearts of my sisters.

Looks of wonder: one of those gifts (mentioned above) is this little learning toy that says letters and numbers. My son LOVES it. He puckers up his lips and raises his eyebrows as he lets out a stream of nonsense words as he happily pushes the buttons.

Cinnamon rolls: we went to Great Harvest Bread Company and came home with a cinnamon roll the size of my head. Today I finished it off... good to the last finger lick!

5.24.2010

5.23.10

Sunday talks in church: today was high council Sunday, which normally means a good nap in church. However the talks today were very good and I was grateful I was there. I even cried a little...

Family time: we went over to see my parents for a bit this afternoon and after making my dad laugh until he teared up a little, convincing him that his grandson will be the next engineer, and sampling the goodies left on the kitchen counter we left for A family activities. How grateful am I for 2 great families!

L has a birthday: my sister-in-law's birthday is today and we were able to get together for family festivities. I love being able to go over and just hang out. But then when they added 35 scrumptious home-made and decorated cupcakes... can you see where I'm going with this?!? YUM! I had a chocolate one with almond flavored frosting. It tickled my tummy!

5.22.2010

5.22.10

Camp hikes: we had our stake camp hikes this morning and I'm not sure if I'm happier about them going well, or them being over!

Putting in the garden: my husband let me go to town today and we weeded a bit more, planted some pots, and got things set for our first ever little garden. I'm so excited! Pray for me that my black thumb doesn't kill them all!

Take out: our version of date night tonight is Olive Garden take out and catching up on recorded TV shows. Not romantic, but nice and chill! Yay!
5.21.10

A new day: sometimes when you wake up and know that the day is fresh, with no mistakes in it, it gives you hope that by the end of the day you'll be in that frame of mind! Yay for me, because today it worked!

The man who makes me laugh, and his mini me: I swear every day my son becomes more and more like his dad. It's a good thing I love my husband.

A good solid belly laugh: I heard once that you should laugh every day, that it will keep you healthy and improve your quality of living. I had a good laugh today. You know the kind where you tear up because you cant stop. It was at my son's expense, but still... you take it where you can! And since he wasn't hurt, no harm no fowl.

My husband winning a contest: he won a pair of 5 fingers. This makes 3 pairs for him, but at least this time I didn't have to pay the money for them! So sad that this pair is ugly as sin... not that any of them are cute. But if he loves them, more power to him!

Good books: I've been in a little bit of life denial lately. I'm seriously burnt out. So at the end of the day when I know bedtime is coming, I'm so grateful to fall into a different world and allow myself the escape that I so desperately need to face the next day.

A good cry: they are truly cathartic! Especially when followed with copious amounts of chocolate.

Mom: today I was playing with the kid and pointed to him and said his name. After which I pointed to myself and said, Mom! He smiled, walked around the room, came back to me and placed his hand on my chest and said, Mom! Yay!

Growth spurts: I laugh at how much my kid can eat when he's going through one.

Fevers: I love it when they break!

The cleaning bug: it's almost as fleeting as the tooth fairy, but boy does it feel good when the cleaning bug comes to call.

Rain: I have to see rain as a positive, if I didn't all this rain would really get me down.

Darius: as a member of the Biggest Loser camp, I have a small crush on the kid. He's just such a nice guy!

A quick read: I've said before and I'll say it again that I love to read. I've been feeling pretty gross today so I've read a book... yes a whole book... it was only a couple hundred pages... a quicky!

Rachel Ray: she cracks me up.

Chocolate: even sick, it still makes me feel better.

Singing for mom: Birch came up with the idea months ago to surprise my mom and go sing in her church, so today my sisters (all 4 of us) went and sang in church for my mom. It was awesome! She loved it and I think it was that perfect surprise for her. After all she does for us it is nice every once in a while to do something for her that I know she appreciates. Good job Birch for thinking of it!

Nieces: my niece came over today after church and spent the afternoon with us. It was great to be around her. Since she's in college now she's a lot more busy so any time I get with her is welcome.

Roasted Potatoes: Ger mad some roasted potatoes today... Holy yumm! (They had parmesan cheese on them!)

Waking up: there is nothing like the smile on your kids face after you've been away. I love that unconditional love he has for me. He just lit up when he saw me and the grin was contagious!

Camp: we had a camp meeting this morning and we were able to talk to the girls going on the 4th year hike. It was fun to see the excitement that is starting for camp.

Our back hill: it's been covered in weeds for almost 3 years now, but today my husband got out a tiller and whacked away at the ugliness! We still need to do more work, but slow and steady wins the race... right?!?
5.14.10

Starbucks: I'm not a coffee drinker, but they sure have good yummies in that store.

Laughing at prices: we went into the Coach Outlet today... HOLY COW! I know that I don't have the kind of money to pay full price on those bags! They are cute, but I'd rather have a new TV.

Seeing my baby: I got home late, but I was able to sneak in and see my kid tonight. He was sprawled out on his back with his arm tucked behind his head, and legs crossed. Sure love that kid.
5.13.10

Pizza: nothing quite like the sourdough crust on the NY pizza.

Hot fudge: oh... you just have to taste it.

Vegas: it's so hard for me to pick just three things about the Vegas trip that make me happy. I know food is a big one, but most of all I love the experience of being with my family. I know that the memories we make together are the things we'll be telling our kids about, and our grandkids about.

Sleeping in: I love the feeling on vacation when you don't have to get out of bed until you want to. Oh it's a beautiful feeling!

Pell good: we went into bath and body today and tried on a bunch of different lotions. Birch was talking about how when her daughter was little she used to say pell instead of smell. So, for the rest of the day we all "pelled good!"

Magic: we went to see a magic show tonight. Sitting in the front row ruined a few of the tricks, but it was a lot of fun to be out having fun and laughing with my sisters.
