5.25.10

Dancing: we were able to go see my niece and nephew in their school dance program. Each grade does a dance. It was so fun to watch, and it was hilarious to watch my 11 month old bob along to the music.

Cafe Rio: I love their pork tostadas. SO yummy!

The princess and the frog: we saw the movie today for the first time. It was really cute. I love how the dad teaches the principal that you can wish on a star, but it takes hard work to accomplish your goals. Very true.

5.24.10

New toys: I've been blessed to be the recipient of many a hand-me-down. From cloths to toys and all sorts of the great things in-between. I'm so grateful for these amazing gifts as I wander through the toy section of the stores. What a blessing it is to have a houseful of things for my baby and know that they were gifts from the hearts of my sisters.

Looks of wonder: one of those gifts (mentioned above) is this little learning toy that says letters and numbers. My son LOVES it. He puckers up his lips and raises his eyebrows as he lets out a stream of nonsense words as he happily pushes the buttons.

Cinnamon rolls: we went to Great Harvest Bread Company and came home with a cinnamon roll the size of my head. Today I finished it off... good to the last finger lick!

5.23.10

Sunday talks in church: today was high council Sunday, which normally means a good nap in church. However the talks today were very good and I was grateful I was there. I even cried a little...

Family time: we went over to see my parents for a bit this afternoon and after making my dad laugh until he teared up a little, convincing him that his grandson will be the next engineer, and sampling the goodies left on the kitchen counter we left for A family activities. How grateful am I for 2 great families!

L has a birthday: my sister-in-law's birthday is today and we were able to get together for family festivities. I love being able to go over and just hang out. But then when they added 35 scrumptious home-made and decorated cupcakes... can you see where I'm going with this?!? YUM! I had a chocolate one with almond flavored frosting. It tickled my tummy!

5.22.10

Camp hikes: we had our stake camp hikes this morning and I'm not sure if I'm happier about them going well, or them being over!

Putting in the garden: my husband let me go to town today and we weeded a bit more, planted some pots, and got things set for our first ever little garden. I'm so excited! Pray for me that my black thumb doesn't kill them all!

Take out: our version of date night tonight is Olive Garden take out and catching up on recorded TV shows. Not romantic, but nice and chill! Yay!
5.21.10

A new day: sometimes when you wake up and know that the day is fresh, with no mistakes in it, it gives you hope that by the end of the day you'll be in that frame of mind! Yay for me, because today it worked!

The man who makes me laugh, and his mini me: I swear every day my son becomes more and more like his dad. It's a good thing I love my husband.

A good solid belly laugh: I heard once that you should laugh every day, that it will keep you healthy and improve your quality of living. I had a good laugh today. You know the kind where you tear up because you cant stop. It was at my son's expense, but still... you take it where you can! And since he wasn't hurt, no harm no fowl.
5.20.10

My husband winning a contest: he won a pair of 5 fingers. This makes 3 pairs for him, but at least this time I didn't have to pay the money for them! So sad that this pair is ugly as sin... not that any of them are cute. But if he loves them, more power to him!

Good books: I've been in a little bit of life denial lately. I'm seriously burnt out. So at the end of the day when I know bedtime is coming, I'm so grateful to fall into a different world and allow myself the escape that I so desperately need to face the next day.

A good cry: they are truly cathartic! Especially when followed with copious amounts of chocolate.

5.20.2010

5.19.10

Mom: today I was playing with the kid and pointed to him and said his name. After which I pointed to myself and said, Mom! He smiled, walked around the room, came back to me and placed his hand on my chest and said, Mom! Yay!

Growth spurts: I laugh at how much my kid can eat when he's going through one.

Fevers: I love it when they break!
5.18.10

The cleaning bug: it's almost as fleeting as the tooth fairy, but boy does it feel good when the cleaning bug comes to call.

Rain: I have to see rain as a positive, if I didn't all this rain would really get me down.

Darius: as a member of the Biggest Loser camp, I have a small crush on the kid. He's just such a nice guy!
5.17.10

A quick read: I've said before and I'll say it again that I love to read. I've been feeling pretty gross today so I've read a book... yes a whole book... it was only a couple hundred pages... a quicky!

Rachel Ray: she cracks me up.

Chocolate: even sick, it still makes me feel better.

5.16.10

Singing for mom: Birch came up with the idea months ago to surprise my mom and go sing in her church, so today my sisters (all 4 of us) went and sang in church for my mom. It was awesome! She loved it and I think it was that perfect surprise for her. After all she does for us it is nice every once in a while to do something for her that I know she appreciates. Good job Birch for thinking of it!

Nieces: my niece came over today after church and spent the afternoon with us. It was great to be around her. Since she's in college now she's a lot more busy so any time I get with her is welcome.

Roasted Potatoes: Ger mad some roasted potatoes today... Holy yumm! (They had parmesan cheese on them!)
5.15.10

Waking up: there is nothing like the smile on your kids face after you've been away. I love that unconditional love he has for me. He just lit up when he saw me and the grin was contagious!

Camp: we had a camp meeting this morning and we were able to talk to the girls going on the 4th year hike. It was fun to see the excitement that is starting for camp.

Our back hill: it's been covered in weeds for almost 3 years now, but today my husband got out a tiller and whacked away at the ugliness! We still need to do more work, but slow and steady wins the race... right?!?
5.14.10

Starbucks: I'm not a coffee drinker, but they sure have good yummies in that store.

Laughing at prices: we went into the Coach Outlet today... HOLY COW! I know that I don't have the kind of money to pay full price on those bags! They are cute, but I'd rather have a new TV.

Seeing my baby: I got home late, but I was able to sneak in and see my kid tonight. He was sprawled out on his back with his arm tucked behind his head, and legs crossed. Sure love that kid.
5.13.10

Pizza: nothing quite like the sourdough crust on the NY pizza.

Hot fudge: oh... you just have to taste it.

Vegas: it's so hard for me to pick just three things about the Vegas trip that make me happy. I know food is a big one, but most of all I love the experience of being with my family. I know that the memories we make together are the things we'll be telling our kids about, and our grandkids about.
5.12.10

Sleeping in: I love the feeling on vacation when you don't have to get out of bed until you want to. Oh it's a beautiful feeling!

Pell good: we went into bath and body today and tried on a bunch of different lotions. Birch was talking about how when her daughter was little she used to say pell instead of smell. So, for the rest of the day we all "pelled good!"

Magic: we went to see a magic show tonight. Sitting in the front row ruined a few of the tricks, but it was a lot of fun to be out having fun and laughing with my sisters.

5.11.2010

5.11.10

11 months ago: my little man entered the world 11 months ago today. Where did the time go?

Sisters: I get to spend the next 3 days with my mom and sisters. It's amazing that we all actually like each other and look forward to this yearly trip. I know of so many families that can't say that. I'm so blessed!

Good women: I'm a little on the stressed side leaving my little man for the first time. I'm so grateful for the women who are taking care of him so that I can go and play and not have any doubts that he's going to be just fine. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
5.10.10

Stress: there is good stress and bad stress. Today I had the good stress of prepping everything for the Vegas trip. We leave tomorrow and I'm getting it all taken care of... wow time flies!

Costco: I still love that store. I don't think I'll ever stop loving it there.

Vacuum cleaners: I think they are a very nifty invention. I don't know what I'd do without one. The kid is a messy little man.
5.9.10

Mother's Day: it was my first mother's day today. I was able to go up and sing with my primary kids today and it was hard not to cry as I looked at my little monkey. He was worth everything we had to go through to get him here. I'm so grateful to be a mom, and so grateful to have such wonderful women in my life who are amazing mothers to look to for guidance and inspiration.

Pancakes: we had sourdough's today at my mom and dad's. It was so yummy and it was good to see the family.

Games: my in-laws C&C came over tonight to play games with us. It was fun to see them and I'm glad they joined in our festivities today.
5.8.10

Playing outside: my kid loves being outside. So today we went out and played while watching daddy work. It was awesome to watch the kid giggle.

Paradise Bakery: Oh how I love their cookies!

Laughing at my husband: he is so sore! I'm sorry to say that I find it hilarious!
5.7.10

Sleep: I love a good night's sleep! It makes the day feel so much better!

Serving with amazing people: I have 3 callings right now and one of them is camp. I got to spend time tonight with all the adult leaders that are going to camp. I sure do love them and am grateful to serve with people who make me want to be a better person.

Yummy food: the camp leaders mentioned above made the day even better by bringing yummy food. I need the recipes!
5.6.10

Planning for next week: next week we're going on our annual Vegas trip. I'm working today to make sure that everything is lined up for Bug and Ger to survive.

Stomach's: When they're happy you feel grateful, and when they're not happy you're grateful for the times they are happy!

Understanding: I really do have the coolest friends. I had to bale on a friend today and she was so understanding. I sure do love her!
5.5.10

Cinco de Mayo: although we didn't do anything to celebrate, I love the holiday. I wish we had salsa in the house!

Helping where needed: my sister's car has been out of order for the past few days so I've been able to take her to work in the morning. My kid sure does love it!

Visiting Teaching: we had a review this morning. It was interesting, but also it makes it funny in retrospect!
5.4.10

Shopping: I'm not one of those women who loves to shop a lot. However, it is a lot of fun to go and play with fun people and find good cheep things.

New purses: I got one for the Vegas trip! Whoo-hoo! It isn't even a mommy purse!

Funny Babies: I always get a kick out of the kid. Today he crawled under the changing room door to meet a new friend. I sure hope she didn't care!
5.3.10

Early mornings: although when I am forced awake it isn't always pretty , I am always amazed at how much more I get accomplished when the day starts sooner than expected.

Going to Grandma's: my sister cleans for my mom and she called this morning wanting to see the kid. It was very fun to go and play with her kids and talk to her. I sure do love my family.

Nephews: my nephew comes over with his friend from time to time. I think it is awesome that he just comes over. I hope he always feels that comfortable with me.
5.2.10

Roast: When G cooks I just love it. He made a roast for after church today and it was so yummy, I think I started salivating as soon as I walked in the house.

Surprise Visits: my sister came over tonight as a surprise. It was fun to watch the kids play with Little D, I'm sure that as he gets older it will be more and more fun for him. He sure laughs loud now though!

Snuggling: I love the end of the day when G and I sit and snuggle. It is a nightly event and I think it is becoming my favorite time of the day.
5.1.10

Date nights: we went to dinner and a movie tonight. I know it's the cliche date night, but we sure had fun. We saw How to Train Your Dragon. I LOVED IT!

Weeding: seriously, we're determined to not have the ugliest house on the block this year!

Chores: I think that one of the most fulfilling feelings is knowing you've gotten things done.

5.04.2010

4.30.10

Babysitting: I enjoy being able to babysit my niece. We watched Little E tonight so that my in-laws could go out on a date and it was very fun. As they get older and older they interact more and more with each other. It's way fun to watch. I also love how much my husband loves playing with his niece. It's so cute how he makes her laugh.

Butt Paste: I love the stuff. It magically makes all the sad sores on little bums go away.

Pineapple: if it didn't give me such horrible canker sores I think I'd eat a whole pineapple every day.
