Consistency: In my house, we are always talking about how it's not the big gestures of life that make a difference in the end, it's more about being consistent. I'm trying to be a more consistent person in all my actions and for me when I have a good day being consistent it makes me happy. I know... go figure!

Dogs: I'm an animal lover... okay, let me rephrase that, I'm a dog lover. I like other animals too, however if they are cold blooded I only like them if I'm watching the discovery channel (and can change the channel if I get weirded out).

Backs (as in "I got your back"): This phrase is used often in my world. It's a catch phrase used by few, but every time it is said it brings an instantaneous smile to my face because the ridiculous has happened and apparently my back needs to be protected!
1.30.10

Ottomans: I got an ottoman today. SO excited! It was on sale too so it's all that much sweeter.

Guesstures: even if you don't play the game, sitting around an ottoman with friends is time well spent.

Love: it sounds trite, but I feel very blessed to be loved. The people in my life constantly amaze me with their acceptance and love.
1.29.10

Hot chocolate: it's by far one of my favorite beverages. Chocolate, in liquid form? How is this a bad plan?

Cuddling: when the week has been long, and you're so exhausted you can't see straight, cuddling with a good man makes it all better.

Friday: I loved Fridays as a kid because it meant that school was out for the week. I loved them as a younger adult because it meant that I was done with work for the week. Now I love them because it means that my husband will be home and we can have family time together. All the way around, Friday is a great day.

Laughter through tears: in the movie Steal Magnolias there is a line that says, laughter through tears is my favorite emotion, it rang true the first time I saw the movie, and every time I've seen it since. Not that I watched the movie today... I just thought it in my brain today. It's still true.

Being organized: there is nothing like being organized. Mainly because I don't like feeling unprepared. It sucks to feel unprepared...

Challenges: they are meant to be conquered. Right?

1.27.2010

1.27.10

The silver lining: so, I know they exist... I know I want them to exist... and somedays I need to remind myself that the silver lining will exist soon!

Water: I have this love/hate relationship with water. A long time ago I went on this fad diet where the only thing I could drink was water. I was on the diet for a whole year, and I think that because I didn't have the option of drinking anything else, when I went off the diet I was anti-water for a long time. Let's face it though, in some situations there really isn't anything quite as marvelous as a nice glass of ice water.

A quiet house: at the end of the day, when everything and everyone is settling down for the night there is peaceful quiet. It makes me want to curl up with a book and get lost for a little while in it's pages. That... or go to bed.

1.26.2010

1.26.10

Handbags: it's an obsession. I've gone a whole year with out buying one (sorry the diaper bag I made does NOT count) so it was about time.

Birch: even when I try, I can't explain how grateful I am.

Mothers: they help make us who we are, and then encourage us to become more than we ever thought possibe. I hope to be that someday.

1.25.2010

1.25.10

Sleep: it's amazing how a good nights sleep can make the day go better. I'm not a very good sleeper, so I really appreciate it when I can sleep.

BFFs: I'm blessed to have people in my life who make me a better person. (On an evil note I'm also grateful when they need to vent... It evens the playing field a bit!)

Dads: spending a half hour on the phone with a man who doesn't talk much... it just means the world.

1.24.2010

1.24.10

Faith: it gets you through the rocky ups and downs of life and brings the comfort of hope.

Humor: our nephew reminded me today that humor is necessary for life to be good, and if you can't laugh at youself then you're taking life too seriously.

Homemade Oreos: had them for the first time today... Oh my!

1.23.2010

1.23.10

Marriage: I spent a fair portion of my life alone, doing good things and having what I know was a very good life. However, I can say that now, knowing both sides, being with a person who gets me, respects me, and loves me... well, it's exactly where I want to be.

Costco: I know this will sound insane to most, but Costco is my happy place. It's like my very own local Disneyland. (I know, it's disturbing. )

Games: I love playing games! Ticket to Ride, Pirates Cove, they are all so much fun! I think the best part is that you can see people in a completely new light when you play a game with them. It can be scary or fun, you just never know.

1.22.2010

1.22.10

Days off: I love it when every once in a while I can clear a day completely and just be lazy.

Blogs: I have been finding the most amazing blogs to read lately, they make me want to learn new things and be more creative.

Puzzles: My mind thinks in 3D, so when I find a good puzzle to solve my mind does the dance if joy.
1.21.10

Snow: Although I will gladly admit to the fact that snow brings problems, I love looking out my window and seeing snow. Whether it's in the process of falling, or just after a storm, somehow it reminds me that there is always a new beginning and we can start fresh.

Music: I've always loved music and have chosen to surround myself with it. It's so fun now to watch as my son is starting to bop around when music he recognizes comes on. I hope that he continues to love it as much as I do.

Family: They save my kiester daily.

1.20.2010

1.20.10

Piano: my husband and his brother moved my beast of a piano from an outside to an inside wall, which means it will hold it's pitch longer. WHOO-HOO! (It truly is a beast and my husband and his brother rock!)

Books: reading is one of the true pleasures of life. There is nothing quite like a good book to take you out of where you are and into someone's creativity.

Baths: hot water, bath bombs, and the before mentioned book. Need I say more? (It's my dream... and at least my tub is now clean enough that my dream could come true someday!)

1.19.2010

1.19.10

Lists: my husband will be the first to tell you that I'm the queen of lists. I make a list for just about anything. A well made list can make my little heart go pitter-pat, and if I get to check things off my list-- you'll be seeing a really happy girl. (I finished a whole list today!)

Kisses: I've got a little boy who is learning what kisses are. He doesn't have the concept down of closing his mouth, but that's okay it melts my heart anyway.

First teeth: The same little boy has two white nubs just under his gums. I'm sure they will break through soon and I'm excited to have yet another first with him.

1.18.2010

1.18.10

Freedom: we all have it, but do we use it wisely? I've been thinking about that today. Our choices will have a direct effect on what future generations choices will be limited too. So we all have the responsibility to stand for what we believe in.

Growth: I'm on the cusp of a learning curve, I can feel it! So am I going to dive in with a good attitude, or sit back and whine... ??? I can hear my mom's voice ringing in my head right now, "You can do it happy, or you can do it sad, but you still have to do it!"

Banana Ice Cream: I've heard you can freeze a really ripe banana and then throw it in a processor. The end result fools kids into thinking they are having banana ice cream. Top it with a little chocolate and I'm all over it!

1.17.2010

1.17.10

Sundays: not exactly the day of rest, but I like them anyway.

Bare feet: my niece decided to walk to my sister's house today without any shoes on... there is snow on the ground here... what can you say? (Her reasoning was that her shoes from church didn't match her sweatpants, and yes, I did mock her.)

Being present: I think sometimes the most important thing we can do for the people we love is being present. I don't remember what was said at most events, but I remember who was there, and I'm glad I got to be there today for my nephew.
1.16.10

Going on a date: the reason this post is late, and the reason my husband and I are in a good mood today. Last night was a great date!

Cleaning: not normally something that I'm happy to do, but there is nothing like sitting down in a clean house and knowing that for the moment you're list is done.

Pictures: I'm amazed by them, intrigued by them, and inspired by them. I heard once that the reason why people love to see pictures is because they literally have the ability to stop time.

1.15.2010

1.15.10

Chocolate: it really does make me feel loved.

Shoes & handbags: I have too many of them and when I look at them they make me smile. Yes, it is a sickness, but one I don't want a cure for.

Blue eyes: there was once a time frame of my life when I was obsessed over beautiful brown eyes, and now the thing that makes me the most happy is looking into a pair of amazingly blue eyes.

1.14.2010

1.14.10

Hamburgers: the homemade kind that you can stack so high that your mouth barely makes it all the way around, and then it dribbles down your chin... ummmmmm...

Service: there is just something about doing something for someone else that reminds you that life isn't as bad as it could be, and when it is bad there's hope that someone out there loves you back.

Friendship: smiling in your friend's new home talking about beautiful nothings! I'm blessed to have friends that I can talk about nothing with and still have a marvelous time.

1.13.2010

1.13.10

Homemade bread: my sister showed up at my parents with homemade bread. I polished off more than my fair share before heading home myself.

Watching my dad with my son: I don't think I'll ever take for granted how amazing it is to watch them admire each other.

Design: being able to loose myself in creating something always leaves me energized and thankful. I may or may not have talent, but at least it makes me happy.
1.12.10

Baby smiles: Little E came over, and at 4 months she is just learning all the fun ways to laugh and giggle. When she looks at you that wonderful wide-mouthed toothless grin can make all the other things in life just disappear.

Pajama pants: I'm currently styling ones with Eeyore on them.

Pasta mama: Food will probably take a large role in this blog. What can I say?!? I love to eat! Pasta mama is a fun, fast, and fillingly yummy meal!

This is a test. A test to see who wants to focus on the good in life and who doesn't. I'm attempting to post 3 things every day that I see as good and positive. If you want to join in, please feel free to comment to your heart's content. If your opinion and mine differ, that's okay!

Some of the posts might have a relation to the world around us, but mostly they will have to do with what is going on around me in my life. I'm hoping that by promoting the positive, even if it's the little things, that maybe we all can be a little happier.

Pollyanna syndrome? I think not... but we'll just have to see about that, won't we?
