Home: there really is nowhere like it.
Fondue: a homemade 3 course fondue dinner makes for 8 happy adults with protruding tummies.
Patience: I'm learning to have more of it, and am grateful to those who extend it to me.

Primary Childrens Hospital: I think that those people who dedicate their lives to helping children are truly angels on earth. I'm grateful that they are there for those little ones that need them so desperately, and am also grateful I've haven't had to use their skills yet.
Retreats: I'm lucky enough to be able to go hang out with teenagers from time to time. They keep me young, make me laugh, help me grow, and strengthen my testimony. I hope I do the same for them.
Late nights: sometimes staying up late accomplishes more than going to bed early.

Being busy: this is not normally something I would say is good, but since I'm busier than a one armed paper hanger, I need to see it as a good and positive thing. I mean, it could be worse, right?!?
Gratitude: I'm overwhelmingly grateful for the things that people do for me. I know I don't say it enough, so I'm just going to throw it out there. THANK YOU!
Getting out of the house: somedays it's all you need.

First jobs: sometimes our first real jobs aren't about the job. I firmly believe that my first job provided the venue for me to meet one of those people in my life that influences me for good. How grateful I am for that first, crappy job.
Speed: I really like to drive fast. I know it's not good, I know it's against the law, but there's just something to looking down at the speedometer and seeing 75mph that makes me giggle inside.
Birthdays: I love celebrating people, isn't that what a birthday is for?

"The most!" When my niece was around 2 or 3 she started repeating things back to you. For instance if you told her it was time to go to bed, she would reply, "oh no, no, no, you go to bed!" It was said with such a cute and sincere voice that you would giggle at her cuteness and not be upset. She then continued to do this repeating other phrases until one day her mom said I love you to her to which she replied, "oh no, no, no, I love YOU!" My sister then said I love you more, to which the reply became, "oh no, no, no, I love you more!" The final response from my sister was I love you the MOST! Of course my niece replied in a resounding, "oh no, no, no! I love YOU the MOST!" This wonderful exchange was repeated many, many times throughout the years eventually being shortened to the simple statement of "MOST!" as someone tried to win the I love you war. As this is the eve of my sweet nieces' 16 birthday I texted her that I loved her the most. You can guess what her reply was. :)
A clean toilet: self explanatory.
Frogs: a wonderful friend (and old roommate) used to have a tank with those little swimming frogs. One of the frogs was named Big Bertha, she was HUGE. I really liked that frog.

Missionaries: we will now have 3 active missionaries in the field. It is such a blessing to our family and I'm so grateful for their example of how to live a Christ-like life.
Dancing: my son decided to dance during the hymn in church. I had to giggle as he rocked it out as my husband held him up. It was amazingly cute.
German chocolate brownies: melt in your mouth fantastic... no wonder I can't loose weight, my posts seem to all have food involved!

Olympics: I love watching the wonderful athletes do their thing! It constantly amazes me the time and effort that they willingly give for the love of their respective sports! So amazing!
Fred: this is the name that my husband gave himself when he was a little boy. (Not his real name.) He is the love of my life and my best friend. I give him props for "putting me first in all things."
Ice cream sundae: sometimes after what you expected to happen doesn't happen, a good old fashion ice cream sundae can bring a smile to your face and the yummy to your tummy.

Just around the corner: this phrase is used often. However, when it is a statement of fact it brings an added sense of comfort. I know that if I'm ever in need, help is just around the corner. Literally.
Something new: oh... how I love those words! All you have to do is come look at my family room to understand how happy this statement makes me!!!
Over the counter drugs: after moving a lot of things around our house I don't think that either my husband or I could move if it weren't for Tylenol and Ibuprofen! (The husband calls it vitamin I.)

Month Day: it has been 8 months since I had my son. He is one of the biggest blessings in my life. I love that little man with my whole heart!
Doctors: I keep thinking that if I lived in the old days I'd be dead by now. Seriously. So, I feel very grateful to live in a time when doctors and medicine are progressing at such an amazing rate.
Memories: I like to focus on the here and now, and I love to look to the future, but sometimes the memories of the past are like dear friends coming to visit for a moment. They stay for a while and then float back to where they belong, in the past happily there where they will stay until I need them again.

Wicked Hot Chocolate: Gerald bought some for me online. It's a decadent, the consistency of liquid pudding, has chili powder in it, and way to expensive... but HOLY COW! It's soooo good! I can only drink a little at a time, but this one is going down as one of the best presents ever.
RAD kids: My niece went through the program and "graduated" last night. It was so amazing to see these kids after they've been taught how to protect themselves from predators. A local police man came and dressed in protective gear and the kids were all allowed to beat him up. I was so proud to watch my niece (she's a shy one) do all the things she's been taught!
Creativity: I love being able to see potential in the things around me. I'm always trying to figure out how to change something to make it into something better. I'm grateful for that talent in my life as it keeps my creative juices flowing.

Visiting Teaching: sometimes it's about who you teach, sometimes it's about who you teach with. Tonight it was about who I teach with. I'm blessed.
Dishes: I don't like to do dishes. It's probably my least favorite chore... okay... ummm... laundry and toilets are up there too... but I really don't like to do dishes. But today as I was doing dishes I started to think about those that have no dishes to clean, and no food to eat even if they do have dishes and all the sudden, doing dishes was a blessing.
M&M's: regular, peanut, peanut butter, dark... you name it... their just plain evil! :)

Walks: I think there is a lot to be said for exercise. To quote a famous blond, "exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy, happy people just don't kill their husbands." We got a new running stroller for my husband and last night I got to take it out for my first test walk. (I do not run, nor do I want to.) I came home happy and refreshed. I forget how much I like to exercise until I do it. It's just the thought of exercise is a horrible thing...
New clothes: I got a new outfit for Valentines Day. (Yes, I'm that sappy!) Actually I used Valentines as an excuse to get myself something new. I got a cute little dress, a shrug to go with it, and a new pair of 14K gold earrings. All for under $80. I love shopping sales, and I love feeling cute at the end of the day.
Lotion: The dry phase of winter really kills my skin. I feel like an alligator that can't stop scratching. I know it sounds silly, but when I get out that yummy smelling lotion I get excited because I know that relief is seconds away. (That and I get to smell good!)

Church: I'm thankful that on a weekly basis I get to go to a place where everyone in the building is trying to be better, trying to be stronger, and trying to live their faith.
Choice: I grew up with the saying, "you can do things happy or you can do things sad, but you still have to do them." I know that being happy is a choice and some days are easier to be happy than others, but still, I'm grateful for the choice and today I choose to be happy.
Commercials: always my favorite part of the Super Bowl.

Chocolate for breakfast: although it's not the norm, it totally should be. (Please say that last phrase as if you're from the valley. I'm not from the valley, but I said it that way in my head when I typed it.)
All-around-friends: those people in your life that you never have to censor yourself in front of. You can talk about politics, religion, and romance without the fear of being attacked for how your feel or what you say. I really like those kind of friends.
Smiles: I got home from being gone and my son couldn't stop smiling at me. It warms me all the way to my toes.

Venting: as a woman, sometimes I just need to vent. I love being able to lay all my frustrations out to a good friend and then suddenly it seems lighter. I know I can face the challenge, get over the anger, or stop being annoyed (whichever of the feelings I'm feeling) because someone listened to me and validated me.
Slumber parties: I feel fortunate to have a great group of girlfriends, who regardless of age know how to throw a slumber party. How awesome it is to kick back and relax and get a little silly.
Selflessness: I'm grateful to those people in my life who I know sacrifice themselves, their time, and their talents, so that in the end I am blessed.

Monkeys: I've always loved monkeys. They're cute, loud, active, and fling poo at things that make them mad. (Come on, you know that if you were mad enough you'd do it too! ... No?!?! ... Huh...) I've had a stuffed animal monkey hanging from my rear view mirror for years. When I started dating my husband, (a monkey lover himself) he said it was when he saw the monkey in my car that he knew he found a girl he could keep.
Gifts: It's my love language. Right now I'm planning a couple of gifts that make my heart go pitter-pat. I know that the recipients don't realize that it's the way I show my love, but I can't help myself! I really do enjoy making/buying/doing something as a gift for someone else.
Prayer: I believe that it is the one thing holding me together right now. How grateful I am for that can't be put into words.

Determination: there are days that you have it, and days that you don't. But the days that you have it seem so much sweeter!
Cooking: I like to cook. I'm not saying that I'm the best cook ever, but I'm pretty good. I prove it every time I step on the scale. :)
Bedtime: It's probably the thing that I look forward to the most throughout a long day. I know it sounds pitiful... but it isn't. I just really, really, really love sleep.

Old movies: isn't there something to watching a movie you can quote? I love to watch the classic (and not so classic) movies that make me laugh, cry and fall in love all over again... again!
Dreams: I once heard that if you believe in something hard enough that you will work towards it becoming a reality. I'm a dreamer by nature and I have some beautiful dreams, I'm hoping that I'm working hard enough so that someday they come true.
The ring that rules them all: I have a plain gold band that I wear most days as my wedding band. I made my husband propose with it because it is what I've always wanted. (I got the diamond later, and wear it every once in a while because I know I should.) A long time ago I worked in a jewelry store and found that more often than not, the girl wanted the $$$$$ ring and not the boy that went with it. I vowed then, that I wouldn't be that kind of girl. My plain gold band means more to me than most other worldly possessions I own. I call it the ring that rules them all, (Lord of the Ring's pun intended) because some people say that they wear the pants in the family. Well... I wear the ring! :)
